Anyone have any experience with these? This Shepherd pup is about to run my ass ragged. She needs a lot of room to burn some of the happy off other than a leash. If I cut her loose I never would catch her.

Get a shock collar along with a buried fence. Our German Shepard likes to chase anything that moves and already had a close call in the road. Train with the shock collar and treats( German Shepard's are suckers for treats!) Using the beeper first then the shock when they don't obey. Shouldn't take many applications as Shepards are smart. Ours when we walk in the fields occasionally needs a beep when getting too far away.

Two daughters have the Invisible buried wire type fence on smaller lots. Works well but the dogs need some training. Third daughter and ourselves have the GPS type invisible fence on farms. It is set up on Google earth. Expensive but works very well. Our dog won't cross the line even without her collar on. Just remember to take the collar off if the dog rides with you in a vehicle.

Son just bought the Halo Collar I think it's called. GPS type fence. Which is nice, because you can use it anywhere and store multiple locales and such. Expensive, but should work great, we'll see how it goes.

Just remember that the shock collar will zap them when your taking them for a ride and you cross the buried wire. Did that with my Jack Russell when I took her for a ride in the golf cart. Poor little  didn't want to ride in the cart for quite awhile. Gotta remember to turn it off when ya take them outside the boundary. Other than that it worked great.

I have a training collar on her now. Vibrate works good for the 'don't do that' with a command but she can be kind of bull headed if she gets distracted. never had to use shock. I'm looking at about 1500' of wire so about 3/4 of acre or so. Give her enough room to get her run on and take crap without having to watch her all the time. That's my thinking anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong. About $350 for the setup and probably $100 or so for a wire burying rental machine.

We've got one and use on two Beagles. Works well...they know the line and won't cross; there is one spot where one of them has figured out how to get past but she won't run off. We also have the disc inside the house that controls them getting on furniture or into places we don't them to go (upstairs, bathrooms, etc) What I don't like is cost of the darn batteries that go in the collar......who-eee. I think we pay $80 or so for the two of them and replacing every 2-3 months

I pretty sure the collar I am getting is rechargeable. Paid attention to that aspect of it. Household current is the rest of it. I'll see what happens. She is no dummy so I think it will probably work ok hopefully. Getting the cable in is the biggest issue. Found a digger local, reasonable rental $. I'm good with it.

I put in an Invisible Fence not too long after they came out. I made a plow to go on my garden tractor to bury the wire, it worked very nicely.
The system worked well.
