Hey Shameless what's driving those corn prices out there in Nebraska? Here in Southern Wisconsin local elevator prices are $4.40 to 4,50. My neighbor and I plant about 80 acres of corn and beans each year with a 12 row planter, He used to farm about 300 acres but rented out most of his land, but the renter gave him more rent if he didn't rent the low field, that floods and 6 smaller fields with steep hillsides so he rotates them between hay and no-till row crops. He has a Kinze front fold with precision corn meters and Kinze bean meters. A very simple planter that works for us even doing no-till and we pull it with an older 120 hp tractor. Don't need all the fancy hydraulics and electronics just the planter monitor.

I'M DONE!!!!! finished up this afternoon. took the last load in behind the Dodge, but stopped at a gas station and grabbed a 12-pack...shared it with the elevator manager and employees after dumping out the wagon. The manager told me he liked the way I think! lol now i'll gits the combine cleaned out, open the trap doors, take down Old Glory, and hopefully park it where it won't be in the way for a year! It feels good to be done, but will miss it out there at night combining, I love combining corn at night, cept my light quit on the unload auger, had to hold a flashlight out there to see when to move and not run any grain out over the side. I sold all the corn I have at the elevator for $4.90 a bu. what are the prices where you are at? the Cargill plant pays more than that, but don't know how much yet. the prices change about every 10 mins there. I also saw the longest semi grain trailer i've ever seen while at the elevator, long sucker...triple axle with a another lift tag on the back, I asked how long that thing was and the driver told me 50 ft....BS....I have a 53 ft at home and this one is way longer than mine! he just smiled and walked off. had nice weather all thru harvest, only 2 breakdowns and both were the gathering chains on the new to me corn head...no biggy! combine ran great, always started, thought that was pretty good after sitting outside 8 years in the weather. everything electrical worked, no mouse damage that I could see, just had the trouble with the filters, but can't really count that as a breakdown. well I did hafta gits a new tire before starting out. I feel fortunute on the holding up of the combine since I watched the big servive/repair trucks from the green stores go by every day and sometimes more than once...them are all newer and some real new and are broke.

almost done....cept another gathering chain jammed and locked the head up! PfffffT! looking at it tonight, appears them gathering chains are just wore out! this one the chain pulled apart after the chain pin came out! next link shows alot of stretch wear...I only gots about 4-5 acres left, i'll replace this one with new and worry about the others next fall since the corn head hasta sit outside all year. don't want new chains out in the weather all year. oh...and I gots a grain leak somewhere on the combine, can hear the grain dropping, but can't see it. I leave a little pile when I stop to unload. it isn't much, be good food for the wildlife! lol

Wait till daylight, the corn will still be there. If you are itching for something to do, go chop corn stalks, or start fall plowing.

Wayne...it's an IH 1440 rotary.I hauled about a semi load into town today behind the Dodge in a gravity flow wagon. it's faster with the pickup cuz the wagon will trail straight and smooth up to 45 MPH empty. on;y ggo about 15 when full. was told today that the elevators will all be closed over the weekend, so a buddy of mine will bring 2 of his semi's to me to fill over the weekend. that will help BIG TIME! still gonna fill the gravity flow too.
