Your friend is German? Or your friend imported a German car? Friend if mine has a GM pickup. There is a button to switch from metric to US

here in Canada we're forced to use Metric, except when the cops are looking for bad guys... read the speedo numbers again...... I'll ask him what his new ride his...he just had staples yanked out of his back so not mobile...

The font makes it look like it says 80 twice instead of 60? Or it outright says 80 twice?

OK, look at the speedo 'scale' and get the pointer up to say 115KmH I used to design meters for equipment for decades and never ,ever saw a 'split, linear' scale.

So what you are saying is that after 100 it goes in 40 increments instead of 20 and the visual space is the same? My truck was a Canadien lease return and the speedo by default was kilometers. Push a button and went to miles. Drove me nuts but Ford said it was right according to where it was sold. Finally had to remove 2 computers and have the default changed to miles.

changing the linearity of the gauge is not as big a problem as doing it right at 60- 65 mph... You could be 10- 15 mph off when the COP sees you.. Hopefully the digital readout is correct !!

Gonna be a lot more "drivers" (steering wheel holders) of these totally unaware of what's going on out front as they will be looking at the screens instead of thru the windshield!! |

I’m not sure what the talk is all about. It’s a computer rendered gauge so spacing is irrelevant to accuracy in the ways of an old mechanical version. That space change is entered into the code for that display.

Well, shouldn't the gage be accurate......if you think you are going 20 you shouldn't be going 30....who cares if the computer is what's accurate, if you are watching the stupid gage. Why even have the gage if you're not supposed to watch it

exactly... the PROBLEM is when you hit 100 kph, the NEXT 40 are random or useless.. The digital readout might be right, but HOW do you read the gauge ??

The German Autobahn has a “recommended speed limit” of 130kmh(80mph) in it’s restricted areas. There is no speed recommendation in it’s non-restricted areas. So if you’re a speed enthusiast, the higher velocity becomes more of a feel than a number. Matt Damon, portraying Carol Shelby in the movie Ford vs Ferrari, speaks about “fluidity at about 7 grand.” At 7000 rpms, the human body becomes a harmony/balance in motion. I’m probably not quoting Matt’s exact movie quote, but you get the idea…
Most of Europe’s motorways have 130kmh limits. So the Audi’s 140kmh speedometer setting has logic for Europe. |

hmm, 140 is only HALF of the full scale deflection of the gauge though. have heard cars are limited to 240KMh, motorcycles from Japan 299KMh
