I find out Saturday if I get the backhoe.
I need to get it running where it sits if at all possible.
It was running not long ago. Been sitting less than a year. Muffler covered. Gas doesn’t smell sour.
I need to know if it’s pos or negative ground or how to tell. I’ll have to bring a battery.
I believe I saw an alternator but wouldn’t swear to it.

If the battery posts are round, they are each different size, not easy to get wrong.

As Dusty MI posted, battery posts are different sizes so the cables should only fit good one way.  Also, if it is an alternator, it is most likely negative ground.  There are positive ground alternators, more a less a special order, but most people just use the common negative ground ones when they do a conversion.

Just follow the ground up to the battery, batteries are marked.  If you have to put a battery on(doesn't have one), and you end up spreading one of the terminals, you are hooking it up wrong...Wink
