There is a post down-the-way about a combine reel not going down and there were several replies about the couplers . Mack made mention of the "points" on the couplers and that brought back memories of the WD. Were the "pointed" fittings (male/female) an exclusive ALLIS deal pre '65?? Our XT and 180 have the "round style" of couplers but these were bought used so who knows if they've been changed over from factory

Most common are the three ear Lovejoy style couplers. Most commercial users would buy commercial couplers for ease of replacement supplies. Not acquainted with the couplers on the 45s. My 7G is a version of a Spline drive.

Dave, he is talking about HYDRAULIC hose couplings on the back of the tractor to connect to implements....I dont remember all the details, but there have been a few DIFFERENT variations to the couplings.. When you go to the Farm Store today, you STILL have to get the RIGHT ONE... probably 2-3 "COMMON" types still today.
JD/ CASE/ INTERNATIONAL /AC... were all different 50 years ago ... and some European thrown in........ now there is an ISO standard. Edited by steve(ill) - 14 Sep 2020 at 7:05pm |

DMiller, you've peaked my curiosity, what type of coupler/fittings are you referring to ? Steve is correct in that I am referring to hydraulic hoses . Thanks for a reply though. Now that I think about your "lovejoy" connector, your talking about the pump-to-shaft connection ? There are "lovejoy" couplings on the stirrator in the bin

Lots of terminology depends on your background... We always called these QUICK DISCONNECTS.... Hydraulic couplers were various screw together fittings like Parker / Hanafin, etc ......... What DAVE is talking about we called MECHANICAL Couplings..Lovejoy was one brand.. Different Business/ Industry / Factory might vary.

Even on the Rx2 series they used different couplers. My reel driver couplers are totally different from reel lift. TOTALLY
