HOW rare are these???

Haha yeah that's been annoying me the past couple days. I paid that much for my whole tractor!

1939 B, 1940 B, 1941 WC, 1951 WD, 1952 CA, 1956 WD-45

Bought both a B and a C that had these weights thrown in on the deal. Did not pay $600 for either tractor!

Now lets hold on a min. and back up. Although the Allis B and C engine weights arn't considered "rare", these are different and I still wouldn't label them "rare", but they are uncommon.

Take a look at the weight on the right side (as seated from the operating position) it is in the first picture. There is no cut out on this weight much like the one on the other side that has the cut out for the drag link.

It has been discussed between myself and a few B fan's before that the weights that are cast like this are the "early" style B weights. We think Allis then decided it would be easier to have 1 casting instead of 2 for ever pair of weights, and started making every weight with the cut out. It is uncommon to see the fully rectangular weights. So, although they are not rare, I have seen weights like these bring a little more then every other pair of weights. (Not that much though). I do know of one other person who has frequented this site in the past that has a pair of these weights that his father bought new with their tractor. I'm sure there are a few others that I can think of that prolly have these style weights statshed away some where. So, the lesson today is, Thing's arn't always what you think they are or they seem to be.

morton, am I right that the cut out for the drag link is the beveling on the left weight? I was confused at first as the right weight does have cut outs, just different shape. In the middle (2nd) picture, what's the rectangular block sitting under the air cleaner? It seems to be different in the right (3rd) picture.... maybe just my eyes getting old!

I have bought 4 sets of WD45 rear wts. from Brett a couple years back. What I paid then, wouldn't buy one set now. He's a nice guy, but his prices have gone up like everything else. Don't think those wts. will be bought at that price though. Some where out there is a 4th generation farmer that his great grandfather bought two new sets for his B or C tractors, and now there back in one corner of the barn, buried under years of dirt,straw and cow manure, that the farmer would sell for $20 a set just to get them out of his hair. Always thought I would find my 63 Split window Corvette that way too.

Don't hurt to keep dreamin' (lol)...................

	I've seen engine wieghts many times before on e-bay selling for half of that price and not sell. I think someone thinks they're pretty rare like I did years ago. Now I see em' all over the place. I have a set in the shed along with the rear wheel weights for my B. Steve@B&B

	The seller is under the impression that he has a pair of one right and one left weight. He has one new style and one old style(photo). That makes his set half rare but most of the ones without the bevel are still around and they aren't really considered rare. It would be rare indeed if anybody would give $500 for a set.

	I checked and the SAME guy is also selling a 1950 B with a belly mower and SIDE WEIGHTS. if you look at the pictures they are the SAME weights on the SAME tractor!!!!!!!
