How many of you use you old tractors in your opperation as in D series, W series, B's, C's and, CA's for daily or weekly use? Or they just there to play with?

So you don't want to know that I used my plain ole B to haul a load of manure just now.  Started to pitch on another load but give out after about half a load. I plan on plowing for oats with a different B when it dries out some.

This year I pulled the 1937 WC out of retirement to tedder some hay. The Oliver has had carb problems and didn't get to work last year. As of this year both the Allis and Oliver are on standby. They both WILL see action raking and teddering this summer.

All I have at my farm operation are old tractors. Some people like going to antique tractor shows, I just open my machine shed doors and look around..

One WD 45 has a 80 inch blower on it. Gets used every time it snow. in the summer it can rest unless I need another tractor. WD45 with loader used at least once a week. It also has loader duty all summer. CA has Woods L306 on it hasn't been used since fall. Mows 15 acres a week in the summer. C has easy life. just used to move stuff around the yard for mowing . Has a Belly Blade on it for keeping road in shape during summer. I spread the work around I'm to lazy to change implements.

I still use the WD to rake and pull hay loads and once in a while to grind feed and other small tasks. The C mows the yard. With gas prices high the past few years I don't use the D17 or D19 much anymore and I opt for the diesel 190 or the XT instead.

My only new tractor is an 04 Kubota, other than that it's a 53 Super M, 81 786 IH and 83 8050.  Even my "newer ones" are starting to get old but the Kubota doesn't have the character yet of the 80's and older horses.  Something about the sound of a 6 cylinder engine.....

Two 19's used for plowing, discing, hay mowing and hauling. Both have engine upgrades and both do a great job. If it wasn't for old I couldn't do what I do. Also have 185, 200 and 210 and one more 19.

Uhh, what do you mean by "old" tractors?  My newest tractor is a 185, 1977 model year and yes, I still use it.  It seems to run like a new one so I don't think I will change that

I'm another one running only old tractors. Can't afford any thing else. 1954 900 ford, 1939 H Farmall, 1949 super d2 Gibson, and the 1959 D17. Just wish it would dry up so they can be used.

D-21 to cultivate 400 acres in the spring, D-17iv diesel retired from row cultivating 600 acres of kidney beans each year now just runs the wood splitter, D-15 II 6' brush cutter, D-12 III 6' finishing mower, WD-45 with 80R mower for road ditches and hedges (LOL), H-3 misc dozer work. Not enough work for all the willing hands.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

We use our 45 nf with the sickle bar mower alot through the year  and for pulling hay wagons. in the spring i use it to plow some gardens for some folks down the road. the 45 wf we use to rake hay and for the bush hog, and to pull 3 bottom plow. we dont use them as much as the bigger tractors but we use them a good bit (more then playing around)...Jb

Still use d17 IV during hay and when spreading chicken litter from poultry houses. Most used tractor is '64 ford 2000 that my grandfather purchased new. It was the only thing he ever bought brand new his entire life.I found the bill of sale with the original owner's manual after he died.It was puchased 40 years to the day he died.Purchased it on Dec. 7,1964 and he died Dec.7 2004.Needless to say it will never leave the farm if I can help it.D17 was purchased from aneighbor who bought it new. We have other newwer tractors but they just don't sound the same!!

We us the15's and the 14 a lot.  During hay season ted and rake. During harvest they run the three short augers.  It is easier to leave these at our farm sites and not have to drive a tractor etc.  I spray fence rows and check fences with one.  The CA, and three 15's go on tractor cruizes.  We share  ours with club members who don't have a tractor handy or ready to drive.  The more they are used, the better, harder on stuff to set idle.

Those in regular use around here are a '52 WD  in daily use (my newest tractor!!), A '50 WF used at least twice a week.  A'39 'B' for mowing, a '46 'B' used for just about anything and last but not least, the '28  20-35 is quite often put to work in the field or on the belt.

All tractors are on original 6 volt systems with no problems. They work as good now as they did then!

Have a 2X, 3X and a 22" 1X breaking plows (all SC) and a 2X 3PTH plow; a 14' and 6' disc, a 3pt 2 row corn/bean planter, 6' landscape rake, 6' brush hog, 5' box blade, dirt scoop, 6' snowblower, and a recently acquired 6' roto-tiller. Have a L306 under my CA for lawn mowing around the pond and the ditch banks. Also have a L59 Woods mower that I can mount on my D12 (or spare, tired CA to mow my trails). The winter keeps the D15 with bucket and D17 SIV busy with snow removal and the others get a rest (and/or come into the shop for maintenence/repairs/upgrades). The summer sees all my girls happy running the implements doing my food plots (and making new ones)...and doing the same for several neighbors and keeping the grass mowed and trails tidy. I loan out one of my D14's to a good neighbor for raking hay.
Believe the best tractor is one that works enough to keep them healthy. If I don't have enough work to do that, it is sold to someone who can provide some work for it. Now that I have a D17 SIV, I'm thinking my good running D17D will need more work than what it will get from me...so watch the classifieds as I may be posting it there in the future.
What this country needs is more unemployed politicians-and lawyers.
Currently have: 1 D14 and a D15S2.
With new owners: 2Bs,9CAs,1WD,2 D12s,5D14s,3D15S2s, 2D17SIVs,D17D,1D19D;1 Unstyled WC

A Super A,and an 801 Ford, plus a Troyblt Horse tiller was all my gardening equipment for the last few years.

Just a few weeks ago, and nothing short of a miracle,I was able to aquire the same D14 I drove brand new over fifty years, ago when I was a kid, plus the eight or ten foot Fordmac disk that I used on it to cut land with, way back then.A disk thats heavy enough,if you let it,its cutting to the axle.

The D14 orange as faded just a tad but uses absolutely no oil,but the PS oil kept the front wheels and pedistal wet all the time from leaking, which I fixed with a plug and a tube of silicone.

Also the hyd lift was pouring hyd oil into the transmission, at about two quarts per half day.If you turned the tractor off with the disk lifted,it would almost beat you to the ground, thats how bad it leaked.I was beginning to see why I got such a good deal.

Any way, after taking the lift housing off to check where the hyd oil was coming from, the lift cylinders O ring had a quarter inch chunk missing, and the rubber hose supply line had a couple of pin holes. No wonder it was blowing out oil.Fifty bucks plus shipping,,solved that problem, and will hopefully last as long as the first one did.

By then I'll be a hundred years old,and forgot what an O ring really is,but the one thing I won't forget ,is how the Good Lord managed to work things out, and put me back in the drivers seat, of that first Allis Chalmer I ever drove,a D14 with, you guessed it,POWER STEERING.I don't have much of an operation, but what little I do have,Allis is gunna be around to help do it.

One day I will tell you folks just how and why that miracle came to pass.  eb

63 D19 usually gets the log splitter, sprayer, spreading fertilizer, manure spreader, 13ft disc, baling, pulling wagons and other odd jobs, 59 D17 gets spraying, spreading fertilizer 11 or 13ft disc, pulling wagons, and other odd jobs. 56, and 2 55 WD45 just odd jobs and pulling. Most of it depends on where Im at and what I need and whats there to use.
