Back earlier in the year I asked on here if anyone had had their penis scoped. I got varying answers and in the end got it done. Not a real comfortable experience. Especially the preliminary one in the Dr.s office. Well, the lab results was I had bladder cancer. I finally got in for surgery mid July. My brother said I was on the table for nine hours. The surgery was performed by robot so them things shouldn't be taking over any jobs if they're that slow! I was in the hosp for five days. BTW, their food sucks! About a week after I got home, the Dr. called me with the pathology report. There was a high grade cancer in my bladder and a lower grade in my prostate. The procedure is to take out the prostate at the same time due to the two being so integrated. He also said that I was cancer free, that it had all came out within the organs. He has also told me that it could show up again at any time, any where. I do not require any chemo or radiation treatments. I am so grateful for that it is beyond words. I was just in for my post op visit and he was really impressed with how well I looked. During our meeting he did suggest I consider a new immunotherapy. It is being tried out as a replacement for chemo. You get one treatment a month for several months, and there are supposedly little to no side effects. I think I'm going to have him see if he can get that set up for me. So, anyway the only side effect I currently have is a bag glued to my side as a new bladder. Sorry for being so long winded with this, but I feel very good with the outcome, considering all of the horror stories I have heard of cancer experiences of others throughout my life, including that of my Mother! |

Had that done on my left kidney 10 years ago. Dr said they got it all, did not need kemo. I was somewhat sceptical. 10 years later after yearly ckups, Doc said "don't come back"! Hope the same goes for you. GOOD LUCK.

John, glad they got it all and you won't have to do chemo or radiation. I would try the immunotherapy just in case.

John, I'm really happy to see it worked out so well for you. BTW, I was told the hospital food sucks by design, that way you don't get comfortable there! LOL

That's great news John. Good to know they feel you are cancer free at the moment. I also would recommend that you get started on the immunotherapy. It's a good insurance policy if nothing else. God Bless.

John that had to be hard to deal with (pun kinda intended), I'm glad it is working out well for you, considering the alternative. Sounds like you should do as the Dr. suggested, IMHO.

Sounds like good news John and I agreed follow the doctors recommendation my wife has 8 more radiation treatments and she's done. She's having trouble with neuropathy in her feet and ankles, says it feels like a brick is attached to each foot

Hope things keep going good for you. i spent time in the hospital and food was not on top of my list most of the time. But this hospital likes to think there food is better than most. Even go after a little extra business at there cafateria from all the other labs,testing/x-ray places and doctors offices near by. But I don't see myself stopping for lunch.

Good news John is as you get older you won't have to get up every couple of hours to go to the bathroom at night.
