I got a bunch  of my old tractors (B, IB, CA, WD, D-10, D-17 and 180) going today and when I got done, my hands were absolutely black from the old steering wheels. What do you use to seal up these steering wheels, so you don't get black grime all over your hands?

Buy a new steering wheel. I purchased a new steering wheel for my B and shipped to my front door for $29.00.

Your hands are turning black because the material on your steering wheel is rotting away. Restore or replace the wheel.

Did you use regular paint or something special? I had thought of lightly sanding it and using a two part epoxy to try to seal them up.

I mixed up some epoxy and filled in the cracks and missing areas... sanded lightly and just sprayed with rattle can.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I was thinking of something like that. I really don't want Chinese steering wheels on them. I would really like to keep them original.

Besides, I know what a PITA they can be to get the old steering wheel off.

One thing I’ve thought about is the Super 100 combines...their steering wheels are unique to them, and I’ve never seen a replacement. The epoxy seems like a good idea!

Same thing with the WF. I have never seen a replacement steering wheel for a WF.

Repair the wheel with bondo, sand smooth and paint black, then clear coat and your good for a long time. Started doing this in 1985 and they are all still in great shape. This is for large cracks and not for anything with steel bar showing.

I put a steering wheel cover from wally world on one of mine, but unless it's kept inside, it'll rot off in a year.
