I'm like you Chris. Why would you need a red lens on a so called "Work Light". Parts book calls them "Lamp Assembly-Tail"

You know, they never told us and to be honest we never asked.
If you recall later the light was removed from the seat and a red "bullet" light was placed on the fender.  I believe that was to meet government standards.
Good Luck!

It was just an inexpensive way to have a tail light and a work light. I added an old headlight to use as a work light back in the 50's. Much brighter. LOL Bob

I have a guy trying to buy what basically is most of my collection, so at the current time I can't put any of my lens or lights up for sale. I will advise if this changes. One of my hesitants is that all of my tractors will be parted out instead of being restored.

I finally stumbled across the tail light I remembered having. As you can see it is all there. The case is a little bent but no rust holes. I can see two cracks in the red glass ring without taking the lamp apart. The white glass lens has the face chipped but it is not broken. I would consider it to be a restorable complete assembly.

I'm curious, and a bit of a broad question, can anyone think of any other AC parts like this that are hard to come across and rare? Be great to have a mental list ready when we find ourselves I out at auctions and various places.

I'm going to bring this old thread back to the top instead of starting a new one.  I have been briefly looking into finding the original red cylinder glass lens, as well as the clear flat glass lens.  From what I have read and hear, no one is making reproductions of these lenses to go into the original housings.

I have one of each of the original lenses, and have been measuring them up and researching replacement options.
I believe if one waits long enough the clear flat lens may be able to be found, as red examples are easy to find.  They were used in old automotive applications.  The Clear version is much more rare though.  At this time I am holding out to find an original.

The red cylinder glass lens is significantly harder to find, because as far as I know no other application used this glass.  I believe I have come up with a workable solution to this problem, and I am going to try my hand at making a red glass replacement like the original.  NOT plastic.

If my plan works, I'll let you know and may provide some for sale.  If I fail, I may share so you can all get a good chuckle, LOL! Wink Sometimes one has to think outside the box for workable solutions...

If anyone has other info, I'd love to hear about it.

This is the best of the two B/C taillights that I have available. from what I can see there are no cracks in either lens and only minimal rust on the housing. I also have a few other housing that are not as good and some clear lenses but the only other red lens is broken. I am currently working a deal on my entire stock of B/C parts and would like to see where that goes first before this light would be for sale.

I didn't realize this light is rare. I have one on mine thought it was aftermarket. Glad I kept on to it despite a minor chip in the red cup part. I do need a gasket though for mine!

I would think a fella could cut a gasket out of a neoprene or silicone rubber easy enough....

I think these are the same work light on the B and C.
