Between the weather and Elizabeth finding other things for me to do, I've yet to get the head off my D17D. Just curious, are Fel-Pro gaskets as good for the 262 as they are in the automotive world? Napa got them for me for me for $71. This is a complete head set. It has every gasket for the head, including the copper seals for the injectors. Every body else wanted right around $100 for the head gasket only.

i ahve never heard anyone say anything bad about a Fel Pro gasket. Used on all kinds of engines.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I second the Fel-Pro answer. Used many and no complaints yet. HTH Tracy Martin

There are several, about six I believe, grades of Fel-Pro head gaskets depending on the application.  The D17 diesel and the 45 diesel are the last places you want to scrimp on the head gaskets, so be sure you have the best grade for your application.  Also, using a sealer of any kind voids the warranty.  Get as much Fel-Pro literature as you can from your dealer and read it carefully.  They make excellent gaskets.
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.
