Hey yall,
We just purchased an HD6G and are going thru it, replacing belts and some pulley bearings. We also took the radiator to a shop and had them pressure test it. They found it leaking on all four corners and he said its "beyond repair." Do any of you have suggestions on what route we should take? I've heard that better radiator shops can make a new core for it or would it be better to try and find another old non-leaking radiator for it? If we do need to find an old radiator for it, does anyone have one laying around that I could buy from ya? :)
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

I have found that engine on my h4 allis and the 190 Allis tractor has a lot of parts that are inter changeable. don't know if yours is with an allis tractor or not. might be better to check with a different shop. I had a leak on my ford skid loader. shop says it was to bad to repair. found am old guy in town. 35 bucks and it worked great. sold it 3 years later never did leak. really don't seem to be radiator shops like they use to be. more in rescoring them. good luck.

How much work are you hoping to get out of it, cause a used one in good shape is probably like finding hens teeth.
I think it depends on the mood of the shop owner, what he will fix and not fix. I had one that leaked every few years and was told needs new core. But the money tree was really dried up and I begged if it will just do another 50 hours. Lasted a bunch longer but needed work again and I had money this time, and he tells me it was plenty good to fix again.

I sent mine to the local Rad shop many years ago, cost me $400.00 to have it recored. Sounds like you need a different Radiator shop.

Thanks for all the responses. I actually took it to a bigger radiator shop that specializes in heavy machinery cooling and this guy said they can get it repaired.
He seemed optimistic that it could last a few more years. Yay!!! These old machines are hard to find parts for but boy, they are DANG good machines!!! Edited by atomicrancher - 22 Oct 2018 at 5:59pm |

they are good machines. yes new parts are getting hard to find. trick is once you get one, fix all oil leaks, have a service manual so you can adjust things, especially your tracks. exercise your track adjusters every 3 months just to keep them free. if its going to set for quite a spell clean off your tracks, most of all use it for what is was intended for. correct operation and maint it will last a long time. good luck on your purchase.
