Edit to add: we’ve bought both hard copy and downloaded manuals and none of them address the transmission specifically for this model, even when the covers/tables of content say that they include it.

Should be the same they used in the 7G, I used to have one with that trans.

Parts are Non-existent except some used stuff, for seals will have to go to Hydraulic Cross Matches.

Any idea where the steering micron screen is located on the transmission? Is it behind a couple hoses?

He found the scavenger screen on the right. Thanks for everyone’s help and patience. |

Page 188 of the MINNPAR HD6EP OEM Parts Catalog.  Suction screen is in the (As in Seat) Left Front of Trans case.  The steering pump is Engine Mounted beneath the Injection Pump, takes a suction from that point of the trans.  If a late enough model will be the trans high pressure filter mounted in front of it.

Go to my old posts on my 7G, the 6EP is nearly identical.  The longest post was as reworked "Fat Allis". |

The way this trans works, the Main pump on converter takes suction from the trans sump AND the second sump in the above location, to feed that sump and the trans equipment, the Steering pump also takes suction of that mentioned Second sump.

Thanks again. This has been a frustrating fix for a guy who can normally fix any part of any machine and your help is invaluable.

suction screen on lower LHS of transmission, sucks from steering clutch case and  feeds both steering pump and main transmission pump. The screen and pump on right side of trans only scavenges oil from transmission and returns it to steering clutch case
