I can get you some general measurements, but it will sit better if you adjust for your own size. I got a loader HD5 that somebody built a 6 inch lift for the seat cushion to sit on. It was a light bulb mount for me. In my old age it sits much, much better for me to be higher. So I have lifted all my old crawler tractor seats so I sit with my thigh level or just a little higher than my knees.
My guess is the back rest is about 5 inches. I do know on one tractor I added a piece of 3/4 inch plywood because old wood was going bad. That little bit more made it very hard for me to get my old legs up on the brakes.

Thanks Ray, Sure would like your measurements. I don't
have a pattern for the seat or the back rest, thought maybe it would be
23 1/2" wide, 16 " tall and maybe about 5" thick... As for
the seat, it is a tight 24-" between the battery boxes so figure it
would be about 23 1/2" wide... and the depth about 18" deep and just
measuring where I thought my scrawny rear end should sit, I thought
maybe 10 tall... and a few inches of sinkage would be about 8" and about
the right height I would think. ![]() |

When I did first cushon rebuild on my HD5G I raised to by 6" and added 4" to battery box covers for arm rests . Seems machine was designed for short people .
I next used the bucket seat from Chev Suburban and raised that mount up about 4" from the seat fixture brackets so it would still slide . Now have a suspension seat (aftermarket) bucket seat and on 6" raised mounting bracket . |

Finally remembered the tape measure, sorry for delay.Width is 23 inchs the back is 5 to 6. It still has the old springs, covered with foam rubber I took of a mattress.
The lift off the 5g loader model is 5 inches. In the pictures with Craz429 posted a few days ago I see the same lift so must be factory for the loader models. Or a popular after market item. The lift has tabs to keep the cushion from sliding off the front. The seat needs something to keep it in place, gets dangerous in my thinking to have the seat so it can move to far. I have made my own seats for 50 years. Dad bought the bottom cushion from the dealer in 68 or 69 and said no more costs to much. He got heavy canvas from the hardware store. Just put a new cover over what ever was there. Finally had start with new plywood. Then got old couch cushions to barrow foam rubber from. As my joints get stiffer I have learned to adjust height to where I am the most comfortable.

JC, How close are you to Wausau or Merrill? I am also working on a HD5G in need of seat replacement as well as other things. I work for a fabrication shop so I can make some of the items I need to repair. If you are close enough maybe we could meet and compare notes.
