I need to replace or have the old rebuilt as repairs only seem to last a little while and is leaking again.Local radiator shop wants $430 to re core the old. Anyone know were I could get one cheaper?I know I could check used part,but with out pressure check it may not be any better than the one I have which looks good but leaks.Thank for any ideas.

try pepper to stop the leaks. works just as good as bars leak. recore price seems high, is that from a local radiator shop or dealer?

I had mine recored a few years back and it costed me arond $600.00. The reason that these cost more to recore is that they are a non std. core and have to be coustom built. If you use the machine a fair amount then i would just spend the money on a new core. THis way it will never leak again unless something gets ran in to it.

I found a complete unit including the hardnose frame for $150 from a used parts dealer. Said i had to have it checked for leaks so he knocked off $25 to fix it if it had any leaks . NOT one leak and was perfect .
Lot of parts machines still around , do some searching you might find a good used one.

Thanks for the information,it is time to have a radiator that I don't have to think about all the time.This tractor has been getting less than a 100 hours a year but it needs to be ready to go when I need it which is in the winter most of the time so it was always a problem when it would start leaking again.I have used a lot of used part over the years but none of places I used to do business are in business or they have gone to wheel tractors only.This is something I don't want to buy with out looking at it first and have faith in person I'm doing business with.

Ray, get on the CB and find a good truck radiator repair shop. I just
put a re-cored radiator in my D-15 (II) wheel tractor, cost me $ 450.
A good radiator shop is hard to find, nowadays, due to all the EPA
regs. A good place to take a leak is damn near priceless!

About 4 years ago I had my HD6G radiator re-cored by a local radiator shop. Around $400 back then... I knew it was shot so I brought it in... Guy called me up and asked me to come down and see it in his leak tank. I told him that I'm sure it was an impressive site but I was aware it was shot, just fix it. He fixed it but when I went to put it in the mounting holes did not line up, there was no tolerance within the HD6G mounting area... I had to take it back out and make a jig for the radiator guy to fix the mounting holes...
Then, a few years later it leaked again, the bottom shell of the radiator had rotted out around the new core.. Back again.... Getting the radiator in and out is no easy task on the HD6.... For the last few years its been holding...
