DC serial # means its a converter tractor. converter tractors have factory decelerator, where optional on gear drive units. 3 speed transmission on converter units and 6 on straight gear drive. I do not see a high/low shifter for 6 speed.

Okay. But I don't totally understand the operations off the converter lever yet. I thought the left hand lever (red arrow) was a hand operated clutch?

Hello Morton. Welcome. I also have a HD16DC. The lever you are indicating is in fact the clutch lever. There is not a lever or control for the torque converter. It works behind the scenes while the tractor is working and pushing a load. My tractor is serial# 5272 making it a 1961 produced unit. Hope this helps, however someone more knowledgeable can describe the function of the TC.

Okay but how does this "clutch" work in practice?
And a beginner question more ( I just bought it Yesterday) what is this to levers fore? I don't se any reaction when I pull them down |

Glad to help. From left to right the first lever is your left steering lever, then the right steering lever and the end lever on the right is your throttle lever. The small knob above your left steering lever is the engine shut off. Your dash looks in good shap with all gauges. I will send you a pic from the manual but go online and get a operator manual. Great first place to start.

clutch is required to change gears. I am not sure if these tractors will move when engine is idling or not, but will when throttled up. those levers are the steering clutches for each side. you wont see anything happen unless moving or pushing a load. brakes will usually be required to steer along with the clutch released when not under load.

Yes it's in great condition small amounts off rust in the cabin. But it's a great ban found. It's have bin sitting in this shield for 15 years. I just got it lubed and fired up yesterday it's a nice runner. A crack in the exhaust manifold is the only fault so far. It's about to being transported home as we speak.
Well..So you gonna pull the steering lever and then the brake to turn ? ( I have only run it 10feet yet) |

Those are some bad looking ( i mean good when I say that) headlights you have there. I have not seen the 3 light set up before. Grousers look good too. Lost of tread it appears.
Can anyone tell me if those lights were an option on AC tractors or just an aftermarket item. Curious. |

Jerbob, that's called the spider version. You will be amazed how good it looks in the final clean up.
