Hello Everyone.
I just purchased a new to me HD11EP.  Its in pretty good shape.  I ordered the owners manual for it but it wont be here for another 2 days.  I would really like to move it the 1/3 mile up my driveway but it is low on transmission oil.   I have the oil, but can't find where to add it.  The dipstick is under the seat towards the back, but it isn't big enough to add it through there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If yours is an Early Type the dipstick is inside a rather large tube and the nut the stick rests in is the filler tube cap. If the NEWER style with the expanding plug dipstick either way you are gonna need aid and a long funnel. Oil should be checked warm and running.

Miller thank you for the reply.
mine is serial number 12223.   I believe the one you are referring too is the dipstick for the hydraulic fluid correct? (back left of the cab if driving

I just poured 10w powershift fluid into the one with the 1/2" ratchet cap, and that showed up on the lone small disptick to the back right of the cab if driving.

Also with no indication of hydraulic fluid I was able to load the dozer onto the lowboy and unload it at home no problem using the foot pedals.   The hand levers didn't work.

Now, nothing works.  If its cooled down I can get one or two engagments of clutch to get it to turn and then I lose it all.

If I push either foot pedal when the throttle is low, it stops the dozer, not turn it.  As I raise the throttle and the engine over powers and the dozer goes straight.

There is tension on the foot pedals, not sure why the clutches wouldn't engage.

The oil filler than you talking is the right one and not sure you should use sae oil for the transmission  you could check the oil streaner he maybe pluged and he is near transmission oil filter with scare head.

These machines do not steer off the brakes, the hand clutches have to be engaged to steer. If the transmission oil is so low it does not show on the stick running it will be sucking air and will eventually smoke the pumps. There is a separate pump for Steer and another for Trans charge. My little 7G takes over 20 Gallons of trans oil from empty to full.

I have an hd11ep and its been faithful for 6 years on my farm using it for 3 years almost daily. It cranks no matter how cold without any assistance. It's literally never had the first breakdown. Well decided to part with her since i use my excavator for most everything now. It has set for 2 years and today iput 2 new batteries on it, and she fired right up. But as we backed up and got ready to load her, no steering whatsoever. Its never gave any problems but made me look stupid this evening as they drove 2 hours with a lowboy. I have a complete service manual and have studied it and have a few theories, one of which a dozer mechanic suggested the steer pump has lost its prime. I have been on this site in 5 years and cant figure out where the proper place to post is at but if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

These as the 7G do have a problem with a temperamental steering pump, sits above oil level, engine run full time and very soft target for failures.

Did you check the steering strainer?  (small canister with four bolts on head- either in engine compartment, or under seat on later models)  It can get plugged up with clutch material after long periods of disuse, or if the oil has taken on water- steering can go from working fine to not at all in minutes.
