H3 loader, what to expect

Apparently I'm the proud new owner of a H3 track loader. My dad convinced me I needed it the other night while enjoying some holiday beverages. He's supposed to be delivering it when he gets back from vacation. I've seen it sitting outside his shop but he hasn't used it much. It was my uncles before that and he's talked of clearing brush and what not with it. It's in pretty good shape. My question is, how useful is it? I've already got a Case 90xt 85hp skid steer. Is trying to push smallish trees and clean my pond out with it just going to aggravate me or will the little guy surprise me with traction and power? Anyone have any projects they've done with theirs?

	sniff,sniff...I've always wanted one (similar in size to my D-14s) and well, looks NEAT !! A family owned unit makes it special so at the very least, find a good safe place to store it, otherwise I just might come 'south of the 49th' in the middle of the night ...... Everything has it's purpose, even if just 2-3 times a year.If you've got the room, please keep the familty heirloom

	I've had a H3 loader for several years, nice little crawler. This fall I used it in an 80 acre woods by me to clear out blackberry bushes and brush and trees for a horse trail. Worked well.

	I had a H3 along with the backhoe attachment.I did a lot with that little loader (and hoe). As with any size of machine and particularly with a smaller machine it is the experience and ability of the operator more than the size of the machine that determines what it can do. Like playing a musical instrument, some people have a natural talent, others develop skill with lessons and practice while others will never learn. Good luck.

	dont expect much and you will not be disappointed. sounds like your the hurry up kinda guy and trust me you will never get along with it. Big skidloader will out work it, so keep that in mind and you will be fine with it---remember just cause it has tracks dont make it a D-11 Cat! Treat it with respect!

	I fully agree with ac fleet, when I had my H3 loader I decided the performance is about the same as a farm tractor w/loader of the same weight only to have better traction with tracks. I think more of it as a fun toy that you don't expect fast results from.
	Currently- WD,WC,3WF's,2 D14's B. Previously- I 600,TL745,200,FL9,FR12,H3,816 LBH. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal!
