My H3 with shuttle clutch has started jumping out of third gear very frequently. Is this a common issue with a common fix? Or do I just start tearing the shifter apart and seeing what is worn? Thanks

Probabaly the same problem most D15 tractors have with 3rd gear. It's inside the tranny. The actual gear gets worn. I have heard that it's an expensive fix. Search on the tractor page for popping out of 3rd gear. Lotsa posts.

That's what I was fearing... Hmmmm
Looks like to check anything out I have to take the shifter cover off the side of the tranny. Which from the book looks like it is behind the steering brake and final drive. Looks like it will have to wait until spring. Edited by chevytaHOE5674 - 21 Nov 2010 at 4:35pm |

Is it popping out under power or going down hill. If it just falling out going down hill you can fix it pretty easy.JP

It is popping out under power(just driving not dozing) on level ground. But if you run it for a little bit in 4th before going to 3rd it seems to hold in 3rd better.
