Thus, with new wires, plugs, rotor and cap, is this the magneto coil that is cutting out at high temp or the magneto condenser? Connections are tight. Maybe replace both??

Your right on track... Could be either, or both..
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Just ordered both from DJ's..... I am hoping this resolves the issue. I think I will change one at a time to see which is the culprit offender!!

Just for info, CAs with engine prior to CE149840 came with magnetos, those from CE149840 and on came with distributors.  My 1952 CA13092 has a distributor.  I have no idea whether that's original or not.  Would be interesting to know where CE149840 broke in but didn't see that on the AGCO site.

Interesting!! Let me pull the serial number form our "farmed in" CA. Definitely it is a magneto and I will bet you are right..... Our farmed in CA is an earlier number than the number of my grandfathers CA.

As well, as I type, I do remember that our family CA does have a distributor. This would make sense.

It has been a while since I have posted on our CA. Not much has happened this winter with our little friend in the shed for the winter.

However, this spring, I am planning to not only change out magneto coil and condenser, but will replace the clutch and pressure plate. When I was pulling a large load of sand with the blade in 1st gear there was a bit of slippage.

While there are a few different ones available, not sure which I should order..... an 8.5" or 9" and if rigid or spring loaded. Also not yet sure yet if I will need a pilot bearing or bushing.

Any other recommendations while we have it split in half?

Thanks, Dan

Great question. I had not thought about which one, engine or final drive. What would be the best way to determine which one is slipping?
