govoner weight question

   what is the differance between the gov. weights in a lets say 226 combine motor VS. 226 tractor motor? do they make the gov. alittle more sensetive to work load?
now this past summer i put a 226 combine motor in my d17 and had a few people say to run the combine gov. weights. seems the tractor responds a little faster than it use. is this just my in my head or what?
 could some explain what the results would be between the two.

	Dr allis can weigh in in this as well as I or anyone.the progression of the ramps and the weight as to how it acts centrifugally does make a difference.also makes a difference in the rpm it holds under load vs the max rpm it catches at

	The weights are identical from WC -WD-WD45-D17. The models E and E3 Gleaner are different and the only difference is the fulcrum/ramp that moves the sleeve back and forth. The speed droop on the combine is 100 to 150 RPM and the other tractors are about 300 rpm. 170 and 175 are a different weight (lighter) and again a different fulcrum/ramp. They have 150 to 200 rpm droop. All three weights can be interchanged (in pairs) for different results in engine performance. "Droop" is how many rpm did the engine speed decrease from wide open no-load to full load (carb throttle plate is clear open).

	Very interesting makes me think about changing the weights in my wc that i pull

	I lightened the combine weights and run a regular D17 spring. Made a 3000 rpm fast acting governor without needing excessive force on the weights. Put lots of hours on the tractor since then and pull it when I can. Edited by Rod B - 25 Jan 2012 at 8:13am
