We will be coming south on I-75 with a 35' fifth wheel camper. I'd like a good cross country route without huge hills. I like to avoid going all the way to Knoxville and back tracking on I-40/I-81. We drove to a jobsite in Kingsport about 9 years ago by car on the way to Florida and remember some real rough country. I really don't trust mapquest or my GPS for good info here. I don't need any goat paths like I was on northwest of Carlisle Pa (74) last week.  Thanks. Looking forward to seeing old friends this week.

Calvin, I would not risk the off Interstate routes given by mapquest as the roads can be mountainous and curvy in that area.  I would suggest I-75S to I-640E to I-40E.  Some years ago we traveled to Minnesota some and used the Intestate routes except one time decided to use a more direct route home............... bad move!!!!!!!!!!!

Cal US25 se out of North Corbin KY to I81 in TN is supposed to be pretty decent according to an earlier thread. I intend to use that northbound, but don't know about hills, not hauling a trailer.

I am going down 75 to the corbin ky exit then across to Gray. I have to stop in Corbin for family anyway.

My wife was born in Corbin, I've always told her their were 3 good things to come from Kentucky

Calvin, Was told that 25 is a good road for pulling campers. We bought a tt last fall and plan on taking that route. 4 lanes most of the way.

Thanks guys. Dave if the tt is the Audi TT, you should be looking for all the hilly curvey roads that you can find!

US 25 has construction south of Tazwell, TN. Road goes to 2 lanes and has some serious hills. Also there are a lot of stop lights at Corbin, Pineville and Middlesboro, KY. I haul tractors from Indiana to Tennessee and when I am maxed out on weight I go 75 all the way to I-640 east to I-40 east to I-81 north to I-26 to Gray, TN. There are hills on 75 the worst being at Jellico, TN at the KY/TN line. If you have any questions about logistics contact me as I travel those roads every day.

Don't forget, those of you coming from the south, I-40 is CLOSED at the TN/NC state line due to a rock slide. Take I-26 from Asheville, NC to Johnson City, TN (Gray).

Chuck, the advantage to the Jellico hill is you can get a run for it. One thing I forgot about 25 is the possibility of blasting at the construction sites on 25. I don't know the schedule but there can be major delays if they are blasting.

Its hard to say which hills are the worst. Down here you live with hills everyday. They are a part of being here. The worst hill I can think of on 25 is south of Tazwell at Thorn Hill. It is as steep as Jellico but not as long. The advantage of going 25 is it is a very scenic ride.

We are leaving Tuesday morning, will be taking I-69 to south of Fort Wayne, then cross over to I-75. Anyone going about the same time? We could hook up and travel , I drive 55 mph.

I'm looking for a couple of guys that change the oil in their vehicles their selves. I also have some AIC Internet Badges yet. Find me at the show.

Dusty

I was going to post a picture of an AIC Badge but need to delete some pictures and don't see how.

Dusty

Corbin south 25E is all four lane except three mile one major hill northbound but not serious, some guys take I77 south if you are on that side of the state. I have taken both ways but this time I am going 23 south of Columbus to I26 at Gray. Fred

I was going to be going like this.... then I figured out if I unload my small trailer's contents into my brother's new monster I won't have to drag his 900 miles. I 'll be on the road friday morning down 75 and across at the Corbin exit pulling my black 6 x 12. 937-508-5202
