Hello AC people
Finally our GOTO is going to happen , with the pandemic behind us now it's just a matter of time till next June. But by waiting 3 years we been able to build three more buildings at the museum to include a church a general store and a printing shop. The format should stay the same as was planned for 2020, with arrival prior to start on Friday, the allis forum on Saturday AM, three day parts corral for persons wanting to bring used parts for sale, banquet Saturday night. If there is enough interest there will be a tractor ride on Friday to go to the scenic St.Lawrence river for a light lunch and return. Our grounds have their own kitchen which will have 3 meals each day with a chicken barbecue and tractor pull on Sunday. There should be plenty of room for camping with showers available. Plenty of hotels and motels a short distance from the grounds, in Canton, Potsdam, & Massena. There are also some state and private campgrounds close by. Our team will be monitoring this forum frequently so don't hesitate to ask any questions. Thanks Al Garrand

What dates in June of 2023 will this be. Anyone that has to travel any distance will need to know to start planning. Too often there are too many things going on at the same time.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Is Hwy 11 the best road to take from Watertown to Canton ?

From Watertown,I, personally, take I-81 to I-781 to US 11, then turn onto NY RT 310 in Canton to (right turn onto) RT 345 in Madrid. The show grounds (St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum) is about 1/4 mile on RT 345.
Your GPS will probably tell you to turn off RT 11 before you get to RT 310. It's a shortcut to avoid a couple traffic lights in Canton. The shortcut may save you a minute or two. If you take the shortcut during school hours, there is a school speed zone (20 mph) that is enforced.

Those of you who are planning on coming to GOTO 2023 in Madrid and are planning on bringing tractors and equipment are encouraged to register here on the forum so we can semi organize the different types of equipment. For instance if you are bringing a roto-baler with bale pickup and wagon and want to make it a working demonstration we'll have a place set aside for you. The same goes for other machines which which will require room for demonstration purposes. It will be interesting to see how many pre registrations that we get. Also those planning in participating in the tractor ride Friday can pre register so we can dedicate a row or two for easy in and out access.
Thanks in advance

I sure hope we can make this. We have a prior commitment that we just heard may not happen.
It would be a bummer if the other one had to get cancelled but it'd sure work out for us! |

So you are thinking you would like to attend the Gathering of the Orange (GOTO) at The St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum ( https://slpowermuseum.com/ ) June 9,10 & 11, 2023! Why not make it a family vacation? We are an easy day trip from a bunch of attractions. Spend a week or two enjoying northern NY's proximity to many fun and scenic attractions. The Akwesasne Native American Territory is a 40 minute drive from the GOTO grounds. Located adjacent to the St. Lawrence River, the territory has the uniqueness of being located partially in New York State, partially in the province of Ontario (Cornwall Island) and partially in the province of Quebec (St. Regis and the Snye). The territory offers tax free gas and cigarettes, along with a plethora of marijuana dispensaries and a casino. The Akwesasne Casino (https://www.mohawkcasino.com/) has two hotels; Comfort Inn Akwesasne (adjacent to the Casino) and the Akwesasne Hotel - Casino. The Casino is a full casino with slot machines, card games, craps, roulette, high stakes bingo and sports betting. It's a great place to stay, relatively close (30 miles) to the show grounds. The famous Frederick Remington Art Museum Home (fredericremington.org is less than a half hour ride from the show grounds in the city of Ogdensburg NY. New York's famous 1000 Islands (https://www.iloveny.com/places-to-go/1000-islands/) is a beautiful, one hour, drive along the scenic St. Lawrence River from the tractor show grounds. Take a leisurely narrated or dinner boat tour of the islands with Uncle Sam Boat Tours: 1000 Islands Boat Tours in Alexandria Bay NY — Uncle Sam Boat Tours: 1000 Islands Boat Tours in Alexandria Bay NY . Visit Boldt Castle (Official Boldt Castle Website – Alexandria Bay NY in the Heart of the 1000 Islands — 1000 Islands NY tour St. Lawrence River) and Singer Castle (https://www.singercastle.com/). Would you like an Olympic experience? Lake Placid, NY's Olympic Village (https://www.lakeplacid.com/) is only a 90 minute drive from the Madrid show grounds. See the 70 meter and 90 meter ski jumps, Whiteface Mountain, the Olympic Center and the Mt Van Hoevenberg Bobsled track (Lake Placid Legacy Sites - Visit Olympic Venues in the Adirondacks). Visit the quaint shops along Mirror Lake Lake and eat in the great Lake Placid restaurants. If you would like to visit Canada's Capital, Ottawa Ontario is only a 90 minute drive from the Madrid GOTO site.. Visit Parliament Hill (https://www.getyourguide.com/parliament-hill-l105097/). Make sure to see the changing of the guard (https://changing-guard.com/changing-guard-worldwide/ottawa-canada.html). Tour the famous Rideau Canal (https://www.getyourguide.com/rideau-canal-l144445/). Don't miss the Byward Market (https://www.byward-market.com/). Montreal Quebec is a two hour drive from the show grounds. Visit Mont Royal (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g155032-d155373-Reviews-Mount_Royal_Park-Montreal_Quebec.html), Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, St Joseph's Oratory and more ( https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g155032-Activities-Montreal_Quebec.html). (If you are thinking of visiting Canada, there are a couple (easy) things you will need to cross the border. Contact me for details. Golf? There are many good golf courses close to the show grounds, but the best in the area (by far) is the Malone Golf Club, a beautiful 36 hole course a one hour drive from the Madrid Show grounds. Everyone should visit the Visitors’ Center | Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (dot.gov), just twenty minutes from the show grounds. The St. Lawrence Seaway, completed in the late 1950's, made navigation from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes possible. Watch as huge ships are raised or lowered just feet from you, to continue their voyage carrying grain, iron ore, passengers or other cargo. Also visit the St Lawrence Power Project (nypa.gov) adjacent to the St. Lawrence Seaway where the Moses-Saunders Power Dam is shared by the United States and Canada, generating electricity as a result of the building of the St. Lawrence Seaway. I agree with Al. My experience at GOTO's is that several people have jobs that attend and also bring tractors. Some get there with their tractors and/or equipment during the day Friday and some leave during the day Sunday because they have to work Monday. I expect Saturday will be the best, and our busiest day.

We had a GOTO Committee meeting yesterday and I just want to post some updates.
There will be a tractor ride to the St. Lawrence River (for lunch) and back on Friday for all brands of tractors. All tractors must have a top speed of at least 12 MPH. We will be having a meeting Saturday and Sunday morning for forum members. It's a great chance to put faces to the people we have "visited with" on the forum. Since the tractor ride is Friday, we won't be having an "official" meeting Friday. We will be having our GOTO banquet at West Potsdam (short drive) on Saturday night. These banquets typically sell out. We will have a couple of guest AC speakers and a great meal. People that want tickets need to contact Al or Nancy Garrand for tickets. (315-276-4533) We will have limited "dry camping" (no hookups) available on a reservation basis For details, call or text Curt Smith at 518-521-9549. If there are spots left, they will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but those with reservations will be guaranteed a camping spot. We are planning to have a "parts coral" where you can consign Allis Chalmers parts (we reserve the right to refuse parts). We will have a sales person that will sell the parts and the consignor will be paid for what they sell, minus the consignment charge (probably 10%, but not sure on that yet). We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged parts. Unsold parts must be removed by Sunday evening or they will become the property of the museum, unless other arrangements are made. Any vendor that is planning to come needs to let us know. Vendors will pay $10 per foot. If you need a tent, we can arrange that, but we will need to know by May 1st at the latest. We will do what we can to accommodate everyone, but if a vendor shows up at the start of the show without letting us know, we can't guarantee that you will have a spot. No food vendors will be allowed without prior approval. Anyone wanting to display a tractor or equipment needs to register it when they get to the show (no charge). (We reserve the right to refuse any piece of equipment that we feel are not in the best interest of the show). Anything displayed needs to be removed by Monday, June 12, unless other arrangements are made. If anyone has any questions, give me a shout. |

We are in the process of rethinking the fee for vendors. We realize we were too high on our price. If you are interested in being a vendor, please get in touch with Al or me. We're sure we can work something out for you.

If you are interested in camping at this show (dry camping only), spaces are limited and we would like to know ASAP, so we can allocate space. If you show up at the show without camping reservations, you may not get a spot.
Call or text me at 518-521-9549 or email me at curt12914@yahoo.com for camping details. If you are interested in GOTO banquet tickets, contact AL Garrand at 315-276-4533. Edited by WF owner - 30 Apr 2023 at 8:31am |

We would like to hear from those of you who are coming and where you are coming from and maybe what you are bringing with you. I know many people follow the forum but don't post much so don't be afraid to sound off as this helps us plan for the show. It could be as easy as I'm coming from timbucktoo with a WD 45 or we're coming from Florida with nothing to show just coming to the show.
Thanks Al Garrand

Working on figuring out what all we are bringing. Right now we are bringing a semi load of AC Gensets, 220 FWA, 6-12 and still thinking about how to fill out the rest of the trucks. This is our family vacation with 11 of us for sure coming. Looking forward to see what everyone else is bringing so we can decide what else to bring.

Looking forward to seeing all that you bring, and meeting all you folks. Do you have another AC "A", if so, that would be a nice addition. Also, UC's are very rare, and remember the feature tractor is the CA.

It looks like we will not be making this show as the other event is a go.
That said, I heard a rumor my brother-in-law was bringing 3 tractors up. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not but they sure have some nice orange on their farm.
