Gleaner K-2 questions

   I have finished my little 33 acre beans and did a lot of work on the little K-2. She sat in a shed for 10+ years and I took her straight to the field(basicly). Other than a couple belts and one bearing, we have had little problems. I had a problem with her backing up on the straw walkers and bending the setback plates but found that my chopper blades were beyond worn out. I was wondering if I bought the wide cylinder bars how much of difference that will make? Mine are worn out and I have to go as slow as she will go in the field(20bpa beans). Any suggestions?

	new cyl bars on any combine will crack the grain until they get worn a bit! i found that out on a IH and a Gleaner that i replaced the bars on! sometimes, better to go slower that risk damaging the crop...also, my K sometimes pluged up on the walkers, you have to make sure the stuff is getting out the back, may have to cut a narrower path, mine has a 13 ft header. i did spray some slip plate up inside the hood and down inside the walkers...that seemed to help alot! once i added length to the straw spreader so it would reach further under the hood, that worked well for a short time, but then would run the belt off.

	If you get wide spaced bars you will love the machine. Put new concave bars on door skip one then another set cylinder clearance at 1/4" on second concave and you can go as fast as the back end will handel it. MACK

	Is this a long back or short back? If it has the saw tooth risers on the walker thay slow down the crop flow to shake out more grain mite need to remove them, heavy wet or green bean stems get cought on them.

	you need a sharp square edge on the chopper blades, we never did have a chopper concave in ours, you can flip the chopper knives around if the other side is good.

	short back, does have the saw tooth risers(just replaced them:( didn't know any better). Just replaced the chopper blades but didn't mess with the stationary knives.
