Howdy guys! Im new to the forum but have been lurking here for a week now. All I can say is that this is the BEST forum on the web when it comes to orange. Seems Ive finally found a place that I can kick my boots off and soak up LOTS of information on anything AC. Im a small farmer and have ran about every color out there but my heart will always hold a special place for Allis. I just wanted to ask y'all a quick question on a Gleaner K that I recently bought. These older machines are new to me as Ive mostly ran R series the past 20 or so years. Is there anybody here that can tell me what year this one is? Its Serial number is 10226. It didn't come with a manual and Im going to try to hunt one up too as these are totally different machines that what Im used to. Im sure Im going to have other questions as things progress....so bear with me folks! LOL I really appreciate it y'all.

Can't answer your question, but welcome to the forum. We have several forum members from Tennessee so you are in food company. Glad you got your K. I;m sure once you get a manual for it, it will be much easier to operate. Also, the are at least some on here who still own and operate K's so you should get some definitive answers. Happy New Year

Welcome to the AC forum.
Your gleaner K is a 1971 model. They were manufactured from 1969-1976. It has a 78hp GM 250 6 cylinder gas engine, grain tank holds 66bushel, platform headers 10-14', cornheads 2-3row, threshing cylinder is 27" wide x 19.25" diameter, 3 straw walkers, 3 forward & 1 reverse manual gears with belt driven variable speed within each gear. It's a very simple machine to operate, service, & maintain. What heads does it have with it? What crops are you hoping to harvest with it? What cylinder rasp bars does it have or is it a spike tooth setup? |

Thanks y'all! Its a real clean little machine.Only thing I can find that it needs is the right side tilting window glass. Its missing but its always been shedded. Its got a k330 corn head and 12' platform with a floating cutterbar. Both have the quick attach. Its got a chopper too that I don't think has hardly been used. Its not a spike tooth. Ive farm about 125 acres and its about equal parts corn, soybeans and wheat. Im thinking about growing a little milo next year with the corn prices like they are. Ive been looking for a manual for it and the heads but they are like hens teeth around here! lol I did find one for a K but it says for 12000 and up on the serial numbers. Was there much difference between the serial number breaks to hunt any farther?

I have a couple manuals, one says for serial number 14000 something and up, the other has no designation for serial number so think it might be for the older ones but not sure, if interested it is for sale, can easily be mailed. thanks

I can't find my gleaner k parts right now, but like the gleaner Es, the early serial number Gleaner K models (1001-12200?) had different hydraulic systems. Their pumps & reservoirs were consolidated into a single unit that mounted up on front right side of the engine where a fan belt drove it. Later, gleaner added a more organized hydraulic plate mounted under front of engine where the unloading pto shaft supplied a drive belt down to the hydraulic pump that was mount on that plate along with reservoir, filter, & valves.

Alright thats the reason for the serial# break in the manuals then. I was hoping that it wasn't something major.
Thanks a bunch for the help guys. Thanks tbran for finding me a manual! You are a livesaver once again buddy.
