Just put new batteries and the short cables on the old 7G, started great three times and I left it set a few days while at work, now it has 26v at the starter but won't roll over, will click a bit but no amp draw and little voltage drop, needless to say the loader arms are fully down and in the way as well even as I normally leave the bucket standing on the teeth I did not this last time.

Looks like a bit of hoisting to get at the starter then pull it for reman, may have the generator gone through same time to kill two birds while one is killing me!!  So FRUSTRATING!! but I knew it was old and well worn when bought it.  Also gives a reason to drop the belly pan for clean out.

Might find the brush springs are rusty or broken, had that happen and is a easy fix.
Be sure the connections are all tight and a good ground to everything . Might be just needs some TLC and not a rebuild.
Had that happen to a few starters where somehow water got into brush area and the coil flat spring went bad .

Looked into it a little deeper today, solenoid on starter was loose(all 4 bolts), looks like stud into main housing of motor is loose and got seriously hot as it cooked some residual grease there.  Tried to motor starter crossing the main lugs, no go so it will have to come off, had almost no voltage drop(26 to 25.4v) when crossed the two main studs and very little sparking so probably brushes or something around there.

By appearance will have to drop front skid pan to access the lower inside bolt, absolutely no access from above, other two not so much issue.

This is a torque converter trans, does it have a wet flywheel? will the starter be sealed?
