Are these good tractors? This is local and I just need to find some info out. What do I need to look for on an Oliver?

Y a I think that they are. We had a 1964 c series diesel. good tractor started a little hard in cold weather, but not impossible.

The one pictured is an early model; an 1800A model, it would appear from the photo.  They got better as they went from Series A to B to C.
I think the price is too high for an A model, even if it is Diesel.

thanks guys. I am tring to find a Allis but I seem to only be finding off brands. I do like them all. 
 
I talked to the guy and he said thats all he has ever ran and it was a small farm with that tractor. I should call him back and see what series it is.  From what I found out they dont have PS that I dont think would be to bad going forward but backing up may be.
 
All my equipment runs off of the snap coupler.
 
Just think this hobby stuff does get expensive. I think I may just end up fixing the d17 engine and I would be good to go.

Power steering would have been an option.  It was a mechanical type on the series 'A' 1800 tractors.  The steering cylinder housing was under the front grille.  If the tractor had 3-pt hitch, the main hydraulic pump worked the power steering via a flow divider.
Later tractors used a full hydrostatic system, no mechanical connection.
