I have a 8050 power shift that the only thing it does is pull a New Holland round baler. 95 percent of the time I bale in 5th gear low range. My question is, is this hard on the transmission? Naturally tractor starts of in 4th then I shift to 5th and back down to 4th when bale starts tying. Having zero issues just looking for opinions from people who know more than me about the power shift. Thanks in advance for opinion. Scott

Starting in 4 lo is a piece of cake. Can't see how it could be hard on anything. Im not an expert as only 2yrs with an 8070 PS but I don't see an issue.

Probably thee most important thing on a PST is making sure the trans brake "feel" stop is adjusted perfectly. You simply CANNOT have that inching pedal try to apply the trans brake one little bit when you stop to tie/dump a bale. You will surely destroy the C2/reverse clutch pack. Always roll to a stop or use the wheel brakes to stop, not the trans brake.

What if you pulled the gear lever to neutral and used the wheel brakes to stop fast?
