Ben started in AC industrial division in the service dept.
He transferred to the Farm Equipment division and was hired as the Memphis Region Branch Manager in 1975.  He was a gentle giant of a man. Honest and would go to battle for his people, yet fair and stern when the need arose. He never took credit for our awards but always gave credit to the individual or 'team'. He was respected by dealers and company people as one who embodied integrity. He did not receive a 'fair shake' by AC in the last days but as a true professional carried himself with respect and was know as a gentle bear. He left AC - DA to help his son in a very successful business but his son preceded him in death. He said many times he piloted the Memphis Region in the opposite direction of the path AC was on. He was my first boss - probably should have fired me many times but stood by me and allowed our team to excel in the promotion of Allis- Chalmers above all other regions in increase of sales. He would call all us troops who remained as a monthly 'roll call' - he wouldn't let us call him MR. Cornwell - just Ben - I called him boss.    RIP Big Guy.
