How do you drain the oil form the final drive to change it on a D-17 Series IV? KY D-17

I replaced the oil in the final drives on my D-17 a few years ago. Dropped the pans and made new gaskets. I did have the wheels moved out. I chose to fill the pans before installing them but you could fill thru the fill plug as well. ![]() Not a big job. ![]() ![]() Edited by Brian G. NY - 12 hours 28 minutes ago at 11:00am |

I changed mine 2 years ago, according to the smell it was the original oil. Really stunk

I did what Bryan did on my WD a few years back. Just make sure if you prefill the pan that you don't overdo it because the bull gear displaces a lot of oil in that pan as you put the pan back into place!
