What's a good source for a muffler for my 8550
Agco parts books says something like "check alternate part". I don't think that means that they don't have one, but doesn't really say that they do either
Thanks, Darrel

Discontinued through agco. A&i shows they might have them. I can’t check availability on A&I at home. Your dealer probably uses A&I and could check for you.

I know of an alternative part for a muffler, a straight pipe!!

I like pipes on turbo diesel engines, can’t resist them!!

I will relay a story that happened to me some 35 to 37 years ago. I had a customer with a 7580 tractor. He needed a muffler for it as it was never in a shed and rotted out. He never checked with my dealership on the price that I know of. He just bought a look-alike muffler from his local auto parts store (I think NAPA). The first day in the field that Spring, I get a call to come to the field and see why the tractor seems to be low on power. I brought fuel filters and whatever tooling I thought I was going to need, including a boost gauge. He was pulling a 30 foot disc in the hills and he said he was down 2 full speed selections from where he normally operated. After nearly an hour of horsing around, I asked him how long that "new" muffler had been installed. When he said "yesterday", I removed it and went back to the field, blowing smoke thru the hood hole, and the tractor was right back in the speed selection he was used to. BEWARE is all I'm saying. 8550 is the same muffler(s) as a 7580 if I remember right.

I used an A&I from All States on my 7580 last year. No complaints other than how much it set me back. That's just the cost of owning the big stuff.

I’m trying to find an 8550 to buy, anybody on here know where I can find one. I’m looking for one not all beat up, or repowered. I’m offering a finders fee of 500-1500 bucks to anybody who finds me one to buy.
