   Never heard of purple paint meaning anything but... purple.

Have had several stop by and ask if it was ok to be on my property, I always say help yourself, it's not posted.  I even tell them where the best fishin hole is on the river.  Most I even offer a dozen eggs if I have extras and always offer a cold beer.  Have had a couple apple trees hit but figured they needed apples worse than I.
