I watched that also. Was pleasantly surprised to have someone praise one nineties rather then bash them. I have two of them, and would tend to agree that they are legendary.

Suspended clutch/brake pedals.....console control.......large rear mounted fuel tank.......high flat deck platform.......sloping tapered hood........tilt steering wheel...........12 position seat suspension.........3-section hydraulic pump.......roll shift front axle........these aren't features from a 4020 Deere !!!

There's a lot to like about a 190, no doubt about it! Kind of surprising one has never found it's way here? Guess I'm not dead yet, still time for it to happen.

I haven’t found anything my XT doesn’t do well. For a 1968 tractor in many ways they were way ahead of the competition in comfort, hydraulics, and power. As mentioned console control is one of its best assets. It’s a really good hay baling tractor and love driving it no matter what the task is. Fuel efficiency is excellent for its size.

The 4020 might not have a had a 3-section hydraulic pump but it was closed center.

And I have operated a 4020 and was never impressed with the hydraulic system. Say if you're throttled down quite a bit and doing some steering manuevers, the lift/lower part of their system doesn't have much if any oil flow to it. A mighty One-Ninety does.

I don't understand all the hulabaloo about the 4020, they seem rather unremarkable to me. I'll not fight the deere boys for them, especially at today's rather inflated prices!

They used to have plowing demonstrations using many brands, not long the 4020 quit showing up.

Much preferred the 4020 on the feed wagons, syncro transmission, (or powershift), and wet, power brakes.

Very cool! Really enjoyed seeing the original 190 factory brochure. And it even had a picture of the front mount 5 row bedder that came on my 190 (190 preservation thread) when Grandpa bought it. They demoed the 190 with bedder in Grandpas field and he bought it. The front mount tool bar is still sitting in a fence line at Moms. Surprised that it is still around as I dont remember Grandpa ever using it. Figured it would have been used for steel for some other project by now. David

Cool picture David, never seen a picture of one of those bedders before.
Ran our new to us 910 MoCo disk mower on my XT this afternoon. Tractor did great but the MoCo couldn’t handle cutting the thick orchard grass in 3rd hi(6th gear), it started to skip which makes me think the slipper clutch may be slipping. So I ran in 3rd gear and it did fine. Still a lot faster than our old haybine which gave us a lot good years of service. Nothing like hearing the music coming out of the straight pipe on a XT.

I think the 190 is a perfect sized tractor for hay work. I have many hours driving mine in the hay fields. Used to cut with a 488 haybine in 6th gear. My 190 has the older shift pattern with 4th and 6th together. Pulled a 283 and 425 square baler in 3rd or 5th depending on the wind row size. I even did some raking with the 190 with a single new holland rake. Most raking was done with the D17s but I preferred driving the 190. Up high out of the dust it would pull the rake idled down in 7th gear. That made it nice and quiet to run.
