Looking for tips on splitting my D-15 II as I am going after a power director repair.  PD was not staying engaged in low or high range.  Removed the side access plate by the PD lever and did find two pieces of a linkage piece that has broken.  I have pulled the PD shaft and fork out along with the oil level dip stick of the torque tube and all the oil.  Have an overhead chain fall supporting the front end with the wheels blocked, have 4 longer guide bolts screwed into the the end of the torque tube for support as we make an attempt to separate the front half from the rear half.  I know there are a couple of alignment dowels at this joint as well.  Don't see where you can get any access to them for removal, appear to be in blind holes.  Have all of the retaining bolts removed at this joint, tried a couple of cracks at the joint with a cold chisel, have a steel beam fastened to a fender mount to help us steady and guide the rear half as we attempt to separate the two halves.  This is the point at which I'm turning to the A-C forum team for any tips or tricks on separating two castings that were assembled back in 1966 and don't want to readily come apart in 2023.

Hard to believe a good wiggle wont open the crack. Are you sure ALL the bolts are removed?

We split our series II 2 years ago and I don’t recall having any issue getting it to come apart. As Steve said a few wiggles and it should come apart. Do you have a jack under the transmission to support the rear of the tractor at the bell housing?

block the back half on the drawbar and under the trans case.... roll the front end forward with chain fall from above, or hoist if you have one..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

We removed the front support, side rails, front end as one unit while the engine was still bolted to the bell housing. Supported the engine with the crane and then removed the engine to
bell housing bolts, a few wiggles and it came apart.

Don't forget to put some small blocking between the top of the front end and the bottom of the frame to prevent the (top heavy) front half from tipping when it does come apart.

Thank you for the comments, last night with the tractor supported I squirted all of the retaining holes and the perimeter split line with PB Blaster.  Earlier today with a couple of good wiggles, it popped apart and everything went as planned with the rear rolling away from the front.  We are split and I see the components that are broke regarding the linkage.  So far, I'm going to be looking for a Link pt#0228048-5 and Clutch Shifter pt#1003771-1.  This is for a 1966  D-15 II if anyone has any of these collecting dust somewhere let me know with a PM.

Need to get the PD off the rear half of the tractor and examine for any internal damage.  It is an adventure.

Oh my, my mistake. I just skimmed over the post and seen splitting the tractor and thought you was splitting to rebuild the engine. My mistake. Glad you got it apart.
