I have a Adams 411 grader (about 1937) out back , has 14' blade and UD14 IH engine that starts on gas and runs on diesel
Bought it around 1976 as clutch was bad , repaired that and used it on a few jobs but is real slow on roading it anywhere . So little use now - tires are bald but it still worked good for leveling large areas or grading long driveways .
Was used at old Stillwater MN 1/4 mile race track for years and sign on side says It was once owned by Anderson Construction in Baldwin WI .

Hey Coke, I have an Adams as well, but i don't think that it is old as yours, same UD-14 engine, same bad clutch, same slow motion, extremely worn out. The driveway is a mile long over 2 hour round trip. I do have an old horse drawn Mogul grader that somebody put rubber tires that I pull with my 1256 IH but I have to find somebody to run either the grader or the tractor and I have another unrestored horse drawn that I don't remember the name of. I have threatened to put rams on the Mogul for 30 years now, still not done.

I got the clutch to work but had to have a spring made to get it right . then the problem came up that clutch flywheel comes lose from the shaft it mounts to so have had to watch that and keep fixing nut tight .
Road gear is SLOW so where one travels is limited - have put in a couple driveways close by and furthest I drove it is around 5 miles to a job site - almost need to pack a lunch on that trip .

I recently bought an old grader myself from my brother in law that his father used for years when building logging roads. It’s a 1946 I think from the engine code it’s pretty tired but starts on about the second turn couldn’t believe it. Plan to clean it up and give it some paint even open it up and refresh the heartbeat a little put some kind words in Casey’s memory. I guess we are just temporary caretakers so we should do our best to care for them.
