I've been seeing more and more vehicles (2 years old and newer) with the front "parking light" area made out of a ribbon of LED rope lights that half or ALL of the section are dark. What's the fix for this ??  It's all brands of buggies, not knocking any particular manufacturer Smile .

Are you talking about 'Halo' lights. Something like you describe. Nothing new really if they are that unless it is different in your area.

No, it's the wavy "rope" lights that go 2/3's around the headlight bezel, on luxury cars, SUV's and Urban Cowboy P/U's. The "halo" Imo is on Jeeps that I've seen. Thanks

i doubt every new car you see has aftermarket rope lights..... i think Fixer is probably right... all new cars / trucks have "halo" systems... which looks like a string of lights around the headlight.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Not rope lights
Fixed in place LEDs for daytime driving lights, swap when turn signal is used to yellow from white on most versions.

rope lights are what the kids stick to the bottom of their  bumper or running boards to light up the pavement below them...

My mistake, the "halo" light to me was what the off-roaders (or want-to-be's) were putting on the grill assemblies of Jeeps for aftermarket led headlights ; pinks, greens, purples. They never get the headlights dialed in correctly either, BLINDINGLY bright in the day light even on low beams Confused.

They have to put something on there to make it look worth 20-50 grand.

I find them extremely annoying in the rear view mirrors. Have taken to hugging the center line to keep them out of sight on the side mirror

Halo lighting is the current "NEW" trend, as noted to make it look or appear worth more, still NOT.

95% of all current Auto lighting is LED, takes Special equipment to make T/S or Flashers function the lo-load lighting where Adding MORE LEDs to that string makes the equipment work 'better'.  Spoke to a tech at GM, was changing out my Warranty Seat Air Bag Sensor, as to the new flasher equipment.  He stated if T/S fail it requires a $435 module replacement (often warranty but not always) with close to six hours labor to disassemble/reassemble the dash to access it.
Freightliner/Western Star and PACCAR trucks all have similar set up mechanisms, a Frt Lnr SAM Module is $1460, drives EVERYTHING from start circuit to w/s wipers and electric door windows, EVERYTHING with a electric switch on Dash.  Failure rate is 10-20% of all trucks with them will experience one or more failures of them in five years or less, after five years failure rate increase exponentially for corrosion and moisture intrusion.  Mounted OUTSIDE cab on Firewall.

Fixer, you nailed it as that is about the best description I've heard!
One of the best things about The Bob and Tom show in their heyday was Chuck during "Mr. Obvious taking calls". That and everyone piling on Christy Lee, that girl was constantly "in the barrel".

Yup, "Mr. Obvious" fits this guy to a tee; anyone that has not heard those bits from the old B&T Show will surely get a chuckle when you pull up those clips  . . . . .

Thanks for the reply, I was envisioning  popping the hood and pulling out "dead"  bulbs in the grill area,IF it was accessible LOL !!
Yes, I forgot about the 18 wheelers that have that "lighting" set-up Embarrassed

Grandson spent a couple of hours installing rope lights under his Dakota. They lasted about 48 hours before the gravel roads destroyed them.
