Hi quick question for you guys. I might be able to get my hands on some cat advanced 10w hydraulic oil for a good price. Has anyone used cat advanced 10 weight or a similar oil in the transmission and hydraulic system on a 190xt series 3? That same oil is used on our cat grader for the hyd system, the transmission, and the tandems, so I know it can take some punishment and is some good oil. Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with that. Thanks in advance for any replies.

CAT Advanced is a HYDRAULIC oil for pumps / cylinders.... Put in dozers /  excvators / wheel loaders in the HYDRAULICS.

 It is NOT a  "TRACTOR FLUID" for use in transmissions with gears and clutches..   I think it would be fine in a model B or WD ......... Dont think i would put it in a 190.

You say it goes in the CAT Grader... is that a manual transmission ?  I have not seen a SPEC for CAT ADvanced to use with wet brakes / clutches , etc.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

DRIVE TRAIN OIL is what  CAT would use for wet brakes, clutches... and would be more similar to "tractor fluid"............ not just "hydraulic oil".

NOOOOO, use Purflo Extreme 334 - its only 34.99 in a 5 gallon bucket and works great - that cat oil may have additives that will eat the ole Allis rubber seals up

Cat has 10W hydraulic oil.  Cat also has 10W transmission/drivetrain oil. They aren't the same type of oil.  Advanced 10W is an expensive hydraulic oil and it's 10 W, which is too thin for your mighty 190.  Cat MTO (multi-purpose tractor oil) oil is for a mighty 190 and is a 10W-30.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing when I found the viscosity of 821 was 10w 30. And yes, Cat uses the same advanced 10w in the 120m grader for the tandem drives, transmission, and the hyd system. It seems to hold up well, that machine has seen 6500 hrs of some pretty hard use, 3500 of it from me. Right now I’m using Mobil 424, which meets specs for 821 and I’m pretty happy with, so I won’t mess with a good thing. Thanks for the replies!
