Allis Chalmers made a 1 row unit to go on a CA.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

A picker picks the lint off the plant, leaving the burrs and leaves behind. A stripper strips everything off the stalk, conveys it into the machine, and separates the lint from the burrs, sticks, and leaves via a burr extractor that is somewhat similar to the way a cotton gin works. In my area of southwest OK, cotton strippers were always used. You'd be hard pressed to find an old picker of any make, but Allis 860 and 880 strippers are everywhere. A lot are scattered about western Texas as well.

A picker is a much more complicated machine, with rotating spindles on drums, and is typically used where it doesn't get cold enough to kill off the foliage. The stripper uses simple brushes to remove the cotton fibers from the bare plant usually after it has been cold enough to kill the foliage. AC pickers were mounted on reversed modified tractors, JD & IH as well initially. Later models of IH and JD went to dedicated component chassis, like a combine. The Cotton stripper is on a component chassis as well.
