Mikez, in response to your question on battery cable size. The places I worked for 40+ years on diesel powered farm equip, construction equip and heavy haul trucks we used 2/0 cable with 1 or 2 batt. and with 3 or 4 batt it went to 4/0 gauge cable. Last place until about 10 years ago most equip 90%+ and 50% of trucks sat outside.
I've always used 2/0 cables on the AC100 series and case tractors at home. I'm guessing from memory that 1/0 was OEM on my 185 and 200. 1 of them had to run every morning to feed cattle before I left for work in town.
Have also replaced the 185, SN 133xx & 200 SN 95xx Lucas starters with gear reduction units, that helped cool weather starts, still use block heater under 30 F..
AC 200, CAH, AC185D bareback, AC 180D bareback, D17 III, WF. D17 Blackbar grill, NF. D15 SFW. Case 1175 CAH, Bobcat 543B,

Mike are you using a premium grade #2 diesel in your tractor. It has a higher cetain rating than truck stop #2 fuel. I don't know where you are located, this time of year you need 1/2 #1 and 1/2 #2 in your tractor. If you are using fuel from a truck stop or gas station in town you might try to find a cetain improver at Napa and try it. And these guys are right about Lucas starters. My starter rebuilder won't mess with them. Claims he can't find parts. When the 1 on my 200 craps out, he's gonna get me a gear reduction unit.

thanks guys. We’re not trying to start now. It’s down in barn for winter. But it needs new batteries and cables, so I’m just getting some supplies ready.
