My F2 has a 1/4 turn valve at back edge of ladder platform next to cab which closes off left hyd cylinder to lock head. Follow lines and see where it goes. I put a 1/4 turn on left cylinder itself on my A2 to eliminate possible hose failure. Could reach it with foot to operate before going underneath. The original metal cylinder lock can't be used when equipped with helper springs for bean platform.

The valve you see is a hydraulic accumulator , not a shutoff. MACK

So that would have been before the likes of the M&W header control? My A2 had one of those with an add on H/C floating bar. The rod with all the fingers rode against the top side of shoes

Is there a transversly mounted cylinder under the throat ? Our F2 has one but has never been cracked open, ours has an aftermarket E/H header control.

Found an article today that suggests that valve I see is not a shutoff but rather an adjustment valve for he weight of different headers....he accumulator is for smoother motion of the grain head installed...Mark

Does the valve look like this? My E has a cable operated system using this valve to control header height. When you get it set right the header will follow the ground. It has an adjustable flow on it to speed up or slow down the response. There’s what looks like a rake under the cutter bar that pivots up and down to work the valve. |
