When I got him at 9pm to give him a bottle he was limp with labored breathing. About 11:30 he died in my arms while holding him in my lift chair. No idea what was wrong.

awe man...i'm so sorry. he was such a cutie. i know how much you loved him and the others, i know you did all you could to help him along. he knows you loved him as i'm sure he loved you too. sometimes these things happen, it sucks. i still enjoy that video with him, makes us worship the time you/we had with him.

Dick, I too am so sorry to hear this about one of your 'little' guys.   Shameless will be crying too I'm sure.  They are such a pleasure and fun for you and give you a reason to keep plodding along.  ANY pets are a great loss and tragedy for us.  God bless

Thanks to all, I have lost several baby horses. When things go wrong and you have to bottle feed these little guys, bottle feeding and love is not always enough. The mare didn't make bag and have milk. After having time to reflect I see something must have been wrong for him to fall so sound asleep after a small amount of milk. I thought it was cute at the time. I thought being held on my lap was making him content. I am thinking it was not time for him to be out in our environment quite yet.

Sad thing Dick. Despite our best efforts and love and care sometimes you just can't make it work. It is an unfortunate part of what we sign on for raising animals of any kind from puppies to cows to everything in between.

Very sorry to hear this, Dick, especially after watching that video with him last night.  As you said it wasn't meant to be his time now.

Dick, so very sorry to hear of this. Out pets are part of our family even if they have been with us for a short time and it is hard to part with them, but rest assured you gave him the best care possible.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.
