Has anyone wondered why it is only meat packing plants that are being shut down?
The wife works at local plastic plant and it is still running. Price of hogs and cattle are in the toilet.

There's been a lot of outbreaks of the virus in those plants, we have the biggest outbreak here and they talked about how close those workers stand to each other on the line not to mention the ethnic diversity of the people who work at those places. They said 90 different languages spoken at this one so communication about safety and hygiene is challenging at best.

And that is during normal times, they were all no doubt worried that if they called in sick they would have been let go. The plant should have spent the extra bucks for extra communications, infra red thermometers, and line spacing. Out put would have lowered, but step over a dollar to pick up a nickel, now they are completely shuttered.

I don't stay up with all news as to which company has the worst out breaks of Covid 19.But I know JBS is not "clean" in all this. Only last year some of their big shots got jail in Brazil(their home country) for bribery and selling rotten meat. So you know they don't care about anything but how much money they can take home to Brazil.
Have not seen anything about Smithfield but owned by China,so you can beat not any better. Which leaves little room for the others to have money to do better. And of course farms get shafted at every turn only a handful of processors doing 85% of the business. The Lord help the workers because our politicians have been bought and payed for. Maybe if people wake up and demand better of politicians, and competition is put back in the meat business some good will have come out of this flu.

Yes Thad Doge City is getting hit hard now with increasing cases.
Ray agree 100% but I do not hold out much hope for things changing for the better for livestock producers . Cheap food is getting ingrained in the populace. I go to Costa Rica for the winter and food prices there are at least 30% higher there and here. Petroleum prices are 4 times more than here. With wages lower than here.

Yep time to start lookin at who represents you in your endeavors, or are they and their friends making excessive amounts money, or are they sharing. I do not begrudge any one making some money I just feel that it should be more equitable to effort and cost involved.

Well chas look no further than the meat packers for excessive price. Right now the packing houses are making $500+ per head while the cattlemen are losing $200+ and at the same time cattlemen pay for the beef check off so the packers get free advertisement. Then the packer turns around and screws the consumer.

Exactly!!! It gets worse every year. Not to mention bringing in out of country beef and mixing it off with a little USA beef and calling it product of USA. We need to get country of origin labeling made mandatory. It's not just a matter of protecting our USA beef producers, but also protecting our nation's food security!! |

You both said a mouthful. Just follow the money trail and most of it goes to politicians. They don't give a rats azz about the little guy, except for taking their part of his paycheck. |

Well,,,at the risk of being accused of politicking,,,I'm gonna say just one thing and then run,,,,, There comes a time when all Americans are gonna HAVE to stand up Again, and do the right thing for our country. We all know who all the "who's" are that have constantly been working their azz off 24/7 against the one man that has to be working his azz off 24/7 to save this country!! We do not have to sugarcoat any of the above,,,we all know it is 99.97 % correct. "IF",,the President was of the opposing party, then, I would still be on HIS side. But, we all also KNOW the man of the opposing party running for President is nothing but a crook as evidenced by what he did in Ukraine, (his public admission), the current accusations by a woman, and his comments yesterday about what HE would do if President and faced with this corona BS,,, yet we do not hear any of this by the media. Very trying times for all Americans, and I hope and pray that the majority can really see what is happening right before our eyes, every day. OK,,I'm done,,,and since it is Sunday,,I'm going to my corner and Pray for all of Ya'll.

I agree! It used to be FEMA worked for the states in need, now it seems it's controlled by politics as to which state gets aid. And for some reason it ain't the states with the most need?

I remember when we sent our troops to fight back, hearing one report from the Land Of Sand, that they weren't worried about the USA. Sure, they'd come in and destroy a lot and think they were victorious, but the American people would not have the stomach for the prolonged fight it would really take to change things. My first reaction of course was &$#@ you! But the cynical part of me feared he was correct......and more or less, he was correct. Sure, we fought a long time, and still fight, but is everyone in the country behind it?
