I can't believe it. Bridgestone has shut down all its North America and Latin America Facilities due to COVID-19. This means I get two weeks off. It won't hurt me, we get sub pay and Unemployment benefits. Am I the only one who thinks this whole thing is over blown? Anyway I plan to use the time to get a few thing caught up on the farm. I've never seen anything like this  Coronavirus thing. I know my wife and I were looking forward to going to the GOTO in Madrid and going to Niagara Falls afterwards in June. Who knows if they will even have the GOTO the way things are going. We are having second thoughts on this trip, New York is probably the hottest state for the Coronavirus.

I don't me to belittle this situation. I know people have suffered and died over this. I know we have a lot of members in Iowa. I'm sure are sister Plant in Des  Moines that makes the Ag tire will be shut down as well. I pray everyone gets through this OK.

California seems to have the most known cases of COVID-19 according to the news. Watching the 10 PM news now.  CA governor thinks half of all CA residents might get the virus.  But, California seems to have a left wingnut governor plus many residents who are left wingnuts.  As well as a huge homeless population.  I've seen many news stories about people in California complaining about the homeless urinating and defecating on the sidewalk, in the street, in residents' yards, in parks, etc.  Personally I think we're making more of this virus outbreak than it deserves.  Yes, the elderly and folks with serious health problems should stay home and limit any in person contact.  We should all stay home if we're sick.  Cover your cough, wash your hands, sanitize table and counter tops, stay clean, etc.  Common sense will go a long way toward limiting the spread of the virus.  The problem with that statement is that far too many of us have little or no common sense.

Amen Dan, I was worried I might be out of line. I agree that using caution and common sense is good enough for most of us. I know it seems petty when we complain about all the inconveniences we are seeing over this. I just don't feel like it is helping. What's going to happen if things aren't better in two weeks, then what? We can't put life off for ever. At some point we are going to have to start playing sport games again, go back to work, and do all the things we need to do. If you get sick, that's unfortunate, but that's part of life too.

I for one, am going to enjoy my two weeks off. I hope it don't rain everyday so I can get some things done lol.

My wife is hating it. She's a teacher and with schools closed she has "digital learning sessions" every morning where she has to be available on some program to answer questions then be available by email from 8am to 5pm. The big problem is the new farm is almost ready for chickens and our house isn't so we've moved in my parents basement for a few weeks. Well.... Their house is new and they don't have internet service yet which means she has to go to her mother's house. Boy does that make her a real peach. I've not helped the situation though. With the farm almost ready for birds I've been there till almost or after midnight for the past few days putting shavings and such. I agree it's blown way out of proportion. More people are affected by and die from the flu every year and this doesn't happen with that? People say it's because this is a different strand. How many years in a row now have we heard about "a different strand of flu virus"?

And all the things they're saying to do to help prevent are the same things we're taught as children. Wash hands, cover your mouth, stay home if you're sick. Goes to show common sense isn't common

Dan used the words little or no common sense to describe some of the population. I strongly agree with him. In the winter time, I am in a pool shooting league. Every shot is make-able, IF, if you hit it right. After every game, I like to wash my hands. After placing my hand on the cloth, my hands are black. Should I need to relieve myself, I wash the hands before and after the job. How many times when you are in the mens room do you see someone walk right past the sink on his way out? Little or no common sense? I'll go farther, man is the most disgusting animal God ever made.

So far we're still working, boss says we won't shut-down. 'I' don't see how they can not shut down. Almost everything we build has 6 month to 2 year lead time. Don't know if we could get something simple out the door in less than a month. Also, most of the work we do is for the oil industry. With crude under $30 a barrel I wouldn't think lots of projects in the immediate future. I say bring on a month off! Maybe I can get the power steering on the wide front!

**WOKE*** Below is what a police officer has said about what is going on in our country now.
I don’t want any comments on this, I’m just posting.
NOW WHAT THE COP SAID:
I try not to live under a rock, let’s be real. I’m a cop and see things that aren’t reported in media. However, I also try my best to pay attention to my surroundings and with that being said. Our Government is under attack from within. If you don’t believe so, then you probably also believe that this is the first time the Corona virus has been identified.
Think about what’s transpired over the last few months. The government has presented every possible demographic including a self proclaimed socialist as a democratic candidate because they fear something they can’t control.
The impeachment hoax failed and immediately Pelosi vowed to exhaust efforts in overthrowing Trump. If you currently can see this post then until last week you were living in the most thriving economy this nation has ever seen in my lifetime. Only due to the fact that the person in control couldn’t be bought.
If you think for one second this “pandemic” is not media driven, and controlled by the radical people in powerful places....well...go back to sleep under the rock you crawled out from. Oh, and go ahead at this point and click on my name and follow the steps to unfriend or unfollow me as well because you really aren’t going to like this.
This thing has killed less people in the same time frame then cigarettes, cancer, drunk driving, domestic violence, car crashes, cross stitching accidents (j/k on the last one but probably close), stabbings, overdoses, and please don’t get me started on abortion.
Wake up!!! This is what the beginning of socialism looks like! They are controlling what you buy...bc it’s what you think you need, where you go...bc it’s where they tell you not to go, and how to live...bc you now fear the very existence of anything outside of your home and control.
They are leading with fear. Causing you to panic like sheep.
They are crashing the stock market to run on a failing economy, because it’s all they have left. What is this saying to all of the countries that have opposed us for decades but, couldn’t defeat us?
It’s saying...biological war fare will make these idiots glued to CNN and every other liberal news source panic and run for the hills.
You don’t need hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and Lysol. You need common sense, a sense of direction, faith, a will to fight, and of course guns!
Now wash your hands and live the life they don’t want you to have!

THEN you have the FACT that Diane Feinstein and 4 other Democrats sold all their stocks a few hours before the big crash......coincidence??    I think NOT...

Ted, I sometimes think along those lines.

However, I cannot rationalize out what the officer says/prints when considering the death toll associated with this "pandemic".

And this run on fire arms and ammo puzzles me.  It brings back memories of all the hoarding that went on over 22 ammo.  Something panicked the flock there.

I don't know but am not ready to panic - YET.  Confused

We’re still working so far. We’re on a big job with the home owners already living there. I dont know how long they will let us keep coming back???
My wife’s Jeep is broke down. Shop having a hard time getting parts. We’re sharing my truck.
She works nights and me days so we’re making it happen. She has to go to work no matter but I don’t.
I took her to Walmart last night. We were able to get most of what she wanted. No paper products in the store.
We live quite a ways out so we stay stocked up. We’re in good shape.
I’ve noticed a lot of bickering and short switches with the guys at work.
I have some parts ordered for a project that are taking forever. I hope to have them if I get quarantined.
I pray y’all are safe through all this mess. I’m also praying for our president to keep out country intact in such a trying time.

Our govt offices are closed to the public now. City employees have been given strict rules for person to person contact including off duty time. Were on the verge of working from home. As an inspector I have to assess every job site as to whether or not to enter. Occupied homes are a no go. New construction sites could have an infected person there and we don't know or they or the project can't afford to be off. Lotta stress.

It's flu not poison or radiation, and a big thing to thank the Lord for on this one is it doesn't get your little children. No wonder the old timers seem so gruff, thing about watching your children die and in 1918 nothing you could do for them.

No I don't like getting sick Confused does anybody. This would not be the way I would go out if I got to pick,Wink but not the worst way by a long shot ether. I believe in the Lord so I always figured when my time is done it's done. And we don't have much to say about it.

One thing I think about and glad I don't have any control of, is being the one to decide who get put on the machines in the hospital if it gets like it is in Italy. So anybody that can stay out where your not near people DO IT. But don't be afraid of getting the mail,or handling paper money. Just keep your hand away from your face and go wash.

Yes there are power hungry politicians just hoping to use this so they can be a bigger boss of people. But as long as we have any voice use it to fight back. Tell politicians we will not put up with crazy people running around as homeless in the streets. And drugs end up pushing others over the edge into being crazes  too. Boarders on countries are more than than a line on the map. If we learn things from this there can much good come out of this time of trouble.

Do what you can to help people, and more so when they are trying to help themselves.Pray about this and how we can all help end it. This is just another obstetrical in are path to be overcome. Think of the self employed like a barber and many others that get squeezed from all sides and they did nothing to bring this on themselves. Most on here have connection to people in the country where it is always easier to survive this kind of thing. Most people have watched to much of the SCURVIER TV show that promotes all the wrong things. Rather than helping each other and making it better for all,Confused it is be the best lair, and stab those around you in the back.

Keep positive PRAY,and PRAY some more. Help someone that has been kicked and beat down. Keep washing your hands, THIS TO WILL COME A END.
