I'm looking for information to help my father. He got his 185 out from storage. He's trying to get it running. He put on new fuel filter and can get fuel to the injection pump. But nothing at the injectors while cranking. He says the hand priming pump gets hard to pump after pumping it up. The pump has electric shutoff because it was a combine engine. He has power to it but cannot hear clicking. Any ideas?

Could be a lot of things. Plungers' stuck, still air in pump, electric shut off not working, metering valve stuck, or not turning over fast enough.        MACK

pull the top off the pump = 3 screws 5/16 or screwdriver - becarefull of wires and return line- then ground the cap and see if the flapper / solenoid  works.  IF so then reach in with finger and jiggle the metering valve - the tab that will hit the torque screw - it should be free. IF so - the plungers are stuck :-(    and will have to remove and rebuild.  Assuming you HAVE de - aired the pump and have cracked an injector line..   look at the fitting in the cap - make sure the fitting /ball check are not gummed up or plugged with o ring.
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..
