C governor help

   Alright guys I’ve tried everything I know to try and read everything I could find but I can’t get it figured out. I can’t get the governor on my c to work. The weights move freely and the bearing moves good and pushes the forks like it should. I’ve adjusted the linkages to no avail. I have 2 throttle shafts I’ve tried in the carburetor. One has the arm pushed all the way forward and locks the tractor at idle. The other one (the factory one, I’ve checked it against other bs and cs I have) has the arm pulled way back and the tractor runs away. The linkage from the carb to the governor is about 11 5/8 inch long now but I’ve moved it all around and got no difference. It’s not hitting the block, and I’ve tried adjusting it at the throttle up by the steering wheel. Nothing seems to work. Looking for any advice. Thanks in advance!

	Look at it this way. The governor is a speed limiter that has to be over come by the governor spring done by hand throttle lever at the steering wheel. When at idle the governor should push the carburetor lever back against the stop screw leaving only a slight opening of the throttle plate. To go above idle the governor pressure on the carburetor lever has to be over come with the governor spring at the front outside of the governor cover. This picture is wide open or full spring pressure to overcome the governor weights.

	When adjusting the throttle linkage you set the hand throttle to wide open. Full spring pressure on the governor cam. With the linkage from the carburetor pulled forward toward the radiator. You then bend the crossover arm (if needed) to line up with the hole in the crossover arm as in the picture. Edited by Dick L - 16 Oct 2019 at 4:12am

	Just for future reference if anybody else has the same problem, what I ended up finding out was the governor arm that the forks attach to was bent. The previous owner had tried to fix this by bending the rod from the throttle and the rod to the carb and replacing that throttle shaft in the carb with one that tilted farther forward. Once I bent everything back straight and changed out the butterfly rod and adjusted the throttle lever it worked like it should.
