Have HD-6G we have owned for many years. Running 2 years ago but sitting since. Had trouble with trans and no one with knowledge to repair. Looking for a buyer or advice on selling or scrapping. Hear tell around 18k-21k in weight should result in approx. $2K. Where is the best place to list for sale?

location?  those transmissions are very simple, im kinda of surprised you cant find anyone to work on it.  you might have your best luck listing it here otherwise you will be stuck with low scrap price.  might be in your interest to part it, depends on conditon of the rest of the machine.

you need to go on the net and do a search info on your machine to get a better knowledge of the weight. location will matter but around here I don't think you would get but around 1k for scrap if that much. those older dozers have sort of gone by the wayside. change of times like a lot of other old pieces of equipment. parting it out would be better option to get more money out of it. list it on craigslist for 2k and see how many calls you get on it. you can always come down. good luck on selling it.

according to my data book, shipping weight for an HD-6 is 13,580. That would be w/o any options or attachments. not sure where you are located or scrap prices, but a whole machine does not bring top scrap prices, but at the same time breaking it down for scrap probably would not pay for itself either.

On rereading your post, I missed the 'G', so the loader would probably be another 5 or 6 thousand pounds, pretty close to your estimate

My 7G is only 23,000 full dress new, suspect the 6G to be closer to 18-20. At current scrap of $110/ton looking at less than a thousand to just over dependent on the yard.

As to the trans, could be as with most of these if mechanical trans that the shifter has rusted and worn on the pivots and distribution head where has slipped between gears or locked out of gear.

Shift lever can cause trouble on those. Very simple to fix. I have had the shifter handle break off. Any good welder can fix them.

I hope it works out for you that one way or another it remains an operational unit. Not a parts machine or a scrap iron piece. Darrel

I've got a friend near Granger, Jim Henderson, who likes AC stuff.  PM me for his phone #, if you are interested.
