Not looking forward to Monday, both these machines due for state inspects. Was told either trailer or tow the white one as City cops WILL write a ticket for no plate regardless what doing with it. All springs back to normal pack size, new u-bolts at all four, new rear brakes and calipers, p/s leak fixed, new exhaust BUNCHES of new lights and new mudflaps. Glass, mirrors, horn, signals and brake lights all been working.

Glad we don't have to do those but it might be better. Down here the state DOT enforcement waits until the unit is out on the road and then pulls you over and does an inspection on the side of the road.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Ours is required to obtain a license plate, the DOT inspection is additional to that but being ours is Farm use is exempt.

we used to have one of them inspection laws here too...was a win win for dealerships and gas stations and repair shops...until the governor had an antique vehicle and the cost to make the repairs were to great...next thing we know, the inspection law went away! lol

Ours are pretty cheap, a garage here makes a small fee but usually does not cover the labor expense to perform and Mighty MO does Not care. The repairs is what brings home the bacon in the shops for those that do NOT keep machines repaired.

I used to have to pay $5.00 for each truck I owned. They cut that out about 34 years ago.

I am thinking is now $12.00 each machine, $10 for my Harley but only required every two years. Trailers used to be inspected but they gave up on those.

1996- present--30.00 (emisions)
greater than 10,000lb-- federal inspection (inspected yourself)sticker is free
farm or not- dot roadside inspections and weight stations (not exempt)

Here in Ontario, the 'safety' inspection costs around $100 and a free 'smog' test. Needed before tag is issued. Only commercial vehicles need yearly inspections.
We can get a 'trip' permit( $30 ?/10 days ??) that allows vehicle to be driven though.
