I have 2 8050's 1 fwa ps it mows and sometimes bales hay. The other is a 2wd pd with westendorf loader. It's big clumsy and hard to get around. But I just love it. Both are nice but I still love the 7000 series.
Terra Tiger, WD, 7040ps, 8050 with westendorf loader, 8050ps fwa.

I remember seeing an Allis Chalmers dealer video showing the Allis Chalmers 8000 series having the tightest FWA turning radius in its class. They set the standard in a lot of ways!

you are absolutely right, Alex. Allis had the competition chasing them when the 8000 series came out, and had things kept on rolling, it would have kept on being the leader. Don't want to start a whole new controversial topic here, but it certainly wasn't the farm equipment that was the demise of allis chalmers. Darrel

You got that right Darrel! The farm equipment division kept the whole thing afloat a lot of years ,, it was a shame the management couldn't keep other divisions profitable or ditched other stuff, but the economy of the 80,s was the big killer

[QUOTE=Unit3] In 1987, dad bought two new 1985 8070's with FWA. Both have posi up front and 4" rear axles.

That's amazing that the ACs were still NEW, some 2 years later! C.H. Wendel's book "The Allis-Chalmers Story," page 341, makes mention of a 1980s AC tractor advertisement - "FREE FWD with any new 8000 Series tractor."

In 1987, Deutz was trying to unload the orange inventory they had acquired, and there were some real good deals on the 8000 series tractors. I know Dad bought an 8070 2WD, w/duals, and a 2500 21' disk w/harrow for $31,000.00.

Wow! So the AC 2500 disk was a freebie.

Dad had 7080's until the 8000's came out. His 2nd to last 7080 went down. It came from the factory with 2 or maybe 3 cylinder holes drill in just the slightest bit off. While AC warrantied the block he traded it for an 8070. It came with the free FWA and PS. This was our farms first PS and FWA. The next year he traded the last 7080 of another 8070 PS FWA. Then in early 1987, the 8070's we farm with today came to us.
