Any of you guys have Vermeer products? Tornado hit the plant and really tore it up today. 2 buildings pretty much destroyed. According to the news no one was seriously hurt. Apparently Vermeer is very protective of their employees. A lot had been sent home, most of the rest are in shelters inside the buildings. One man said there were recovery vehicles from 14 different towns there. That was only what he saw. Could easily have been more. Nothing like the Midwest for people helping people. Our church disaster relief crew just got back from Des Moines flood relief, they work with the Red Cross, I'm sure as soon as they ask the guys and gals will be heading for the Marshalltown/Pella area. Any prayers for these folks I'm sure would be appreciated.

Wow, looking at the pictures on the Des Moines Register shows major damage to several buildings, employees cars, acres of corn across the road is flattened and filled with debries, including the cemetery also across the road.  Looks like millions of $ in damage.

Also read elsewhere that there were 400 dealers and guests at the plant for their 70th anniversary.  There is a Ford tractor in the highway ditch hooked to a wagon with a canvas top partially torn off, must have been giving rides around the plant.  7 of the buildings have damage, looks like a couple may have to be torn down and rebuilt.  Gonna put a crimp in their business.
Amazing nobody was seriously hurt or killed.  Must have good storm shelters inside the buildings.

Heard a snippet on local news this morning, sounds like they plan to rebuild.

My sister and brother in law sold their Vermeer dealership last year.
She said the agriculture plants were ok but had not heard if any of the new ag equipment was damaged in the storage lots.

If you go to constructionequipment.com, there is a story on their site about it, along with pictures of a Ford and 8000 series AC at the plant.  Sounds like it was more the construction equipment production buildings that were damaged the most.
