My Dad and uncle had a Ford C-700 as their first implement truck at the dealership.  It had a custom made 22' flatbed that tilted back.  That truck only lasted a few years until it was replaced with a larger B-51 Mack.

Hotrodders are grabbin' those 48-52 Ford, GMC, & Chevy COE's and setting them down on later model chassis' making car carriers out of em'. They look awesome when they're done, and they have all the creature comforts of a new truck with the newer chassis under it like AC Diesels top pic.  COOL!  Thumbs Up

when I was farming...I had an old military semi tractor for pulling a farm trailer, was a 1974 IH single axle, when I sold it, it had a little over 2000 actual miles on it! my trips to and from the elevators were only a couple of miles away. when I bought it on an auction (military auction) it had only about 500 miles on it. another bit of Govt. waste! makes me wonder why they had to have a semi tractor so bad and then only put 500 miles on it in 30 plus years! the drab paint was still good on it when I sold it. man that truck was clean and still drove like a new one! shucks it wasn't hardy even broke in yet! the military even put new tires on it before I bought it...had the tits on them yet.

They have to waste our money somewhere. We're not comfortable without being several trillion in debt so it's new semis for everyone!

I drove a 68 GMC tilt cab with 478 V6 gas engine. It was a single drive axle with an air lift tag. 5 speed with 2 speed axle. Wasn't a bad old truck but at that time we did not know of comfort! With that cab I always felt I could be the first witness at the scene of my own accident!

Army had dozens of them, called DCO's or diesel cab overs. You don't want to see a guys legs if you rear end anyone.
